Topic: Joe and Erin Hamlin (Olympic Luge Bronze medal winner)

Hey I think it would be a cool idea if Joe would invite fellow Central New York resident, athlete Erin Hamlin, Olympic Luge Bronze medal winner to make an appearance at his show in Syracuse this spring!! Joe is from Ney York Mills, NY and Erin is from near by Remsen NY ( both places just out side of Utica. That way we could celebrate and salute two of the most talented, inspiring, and successful young people to come from the Central NY State!!!

Lets do it!!!!!!!

Thanks Rob.

Re: Joe and Erin Hamlin (Olympic Luge Bronze medal winner)

Hey Gary and Rocket:clarification of earlier post which I just edited. smile

Joe and Olympic athlete Erin Hamlin are both from Central New York.  Joe is from New York Mills, NY and Erin is from near by Remsen NY. This is a "working class" low to moderate income area of "upstate New York".

I'm a "music geek", blues, rock, folk, jazz etc. Last time I looked I had about 10,000 songs on my itunes account. So I also live in the area and have been folowing Joe's carrier since he was a young boy. We are very proud of Joe's accomplishments and Erin's too as she just won the Bronze medal at the winter Olympics in Russia. I personally think Joe's success is of equal value and importance. I just thought it would be a cool and inspirational opportunity to have them together onstage. This would showcase a great message to share with our young citizens that through hard work and dedication they too can obtain their dream. Maybe she could sing or play the tamborine or something on a tune, he he. I will be at the Syracuse show.

Thanks, Rob.

Re: Joe and Erin Hamlin (Olympic Luge Bronze medal winner)

Rob, I know all about upstate, including central New York and northern New York, being born and raised there.  It seems like a mismatch of some sort to me.  It's only my opinion.  I would think there is a time and place for recognition of Erin separate.  She's done something impressive.  Joe is impressive too, but unless they both are already acquainted (doubtful), she can play guitar (doubtful), or you know something I don't (always a possibility without stretching one's imagination), I'd say there's a better chance of this never occurring, at least at Joe's performance.

I am scheduled to also be at Syracuse, and my opinion is based on an opposing desire.  No harm in disagreeing.  Not sure if Gary was as puzzled as me or puzzled AT me... tongue

By the way, anything north of Utica on Route 12 to me is "The North Country," and yes I know exactly where Remsen is.  Maybe she is more suited to an appearance at Boonville's Woodsmen's Field Days?  hmm  She can show up anywhere I am any day, including Syracuse's Joe Bonamassa's Guitar Olympiad this spring. big_smile wink

Re: Joe and Erin Hamlin (Olympic Luge Bronze medal winner)

Hello Rocket..It was just a thought. I for one think that Joe does not get his far share of support from the local media here, believe me I've tried. Nothing against Erin but if she passes gas it's front page news in the Observer Dispatch he he. I just have a lot of respect for Joe and his journey to where he is today. His life story is inspirational. Accomplishing what he has in the music business today and doing it "outside the box" is remarkable. If you're familiar with this area than you know we need all the positive inspiration that we can get.
Thanks:)

What no invite for the Bouchard Brothers? Viggo? Maggie? Maybe free cheese curd and Croghan bologna?

All sponsored by Jreck Subs and Kinney Drug Stores.

Re: Joe and Erin Hamlin (Olympic Luge Bronze medal winner)

Rocket To answer your question, both! I don't know how much work would be involved or if Joe would be inclined to have some emotional connection to it.Seems a noble but probably impractical thing.
Now if mom and dad are big fans of Erin who knows? No harm in dreaming Rob.However as Joe has become more popular it must be harder for him to have all kinds of requests for this an that.
But stranger things have happened.

Re: Joe and Erin Hamlin (Olympic Luge Bronze medal winner)

No worries, Rob! I didn't know Erin Hamlin from Hamlet, but, I find it interesting that, even though I do not watch Olympics anymore because, well, that's another story...I digress.  AS I was saying, even though I don't watch television much at all, let alone Olympics coverage on tv, I found it quite interesting that somehow I just happened to be on tv flipping to something else but stopped for a minute, and, lo and behold, there was Erin Hamlin making her medalist run with the announcer flipping his wig with excitement.  Pretty Winter Olympics cool stuff! big_smile And yes, a swell of New York pride came upon me.......once again...

Most DEFinitely as my Cazenovia buddy (=o|-[ ) sez, most DEFinitely no worries regarding geography and "positive inspiration." Central and Northern New York is positively inspiring always, some for flying the coop for Florida for the winter, others know it is a great, great place to work and play all year long...as long as you have work and are able to find money and time to spend with or without friends to play along! big_smile

I know you have cabin fever... wink
