Topic: Des Moines meet and greet....
Well, I made it thru the m & g without acting like a fool. I asked my question...about the banjos in the photo of his guitar collection...figured he's probably rarely (if ever) asked that. Sadly he's gotten rid of his banjos, so that was the end of THAT!
Not many people brought guitars to sign...but I was a little embarrassed about my Walden acoustic (at first Joe thought it was a Taylor, before he saw the name on the headstock), since there were other, nicer guitars there. I was only going to bring a CD cover for him to sign, but thought "what the heck, I'll bring one of my guitars, too" and I also bought a picture...proceeds went to his blues charity, so it was worth it.
Joe was the nicest, friendliest, most gracious person. Even though he was running late, he took the time to talk to us, and treat us like we were the most important thing to him at that moment.
