Topic: Omaha, NE 4/11/14

Same set list as other shows so far this tour. If you'd like a copy of one of my fabulous fake set lists, go here: http://tinyurl.com/kudj8p9

I had a wonderful seat on the far right aisle of the first row (I don't count those two rows of folding chairs they call the "orchestra" section). The view from my seat not long before the show began: http://tinyurl.com/ldyd2nj

Just a few quick impressions before heading for bed:

  • I've watched the videos bunches of times, but you really don't appreciate how much Gerry, Mats, and Lenny add to the acoustic numbers until you hear them live. Amazing...

  • As much fun as Joe looks like he's having during the acoustic set, I suspect this might become the new normal for his solo tours...

  • Derek, Tal, and Carmine were wonderful, as expected, and it was a treat having Lenny playing on the electric set as well...

  • I know it doesn't get talked about as much as the famous '59s, etc., but that CC replica of The Babe has the tone that is haunting my dreams right now. Unforgettable...

  • The Bona-Byrd II sounds just absurdly, preposterously awesome...

  • The Black Burst is quite striking visually (the binding has aged gorgeously), and incredible sonically...

  • The original Bona-Byrd and Slow Train were meant for each other...

  • It really was nice to see Joe playing a Strat onstage again...

  • Spot was...well, how did you think she was going to sound?  wink

  • The sounds Joe gets out of the Dark Lord during Django/Mountain Time are mesmerizing. My part of the audience was on its feet for the entire encore...and having Gerry and Mats join in was exhilarating.

A final note...I had no problems with either the sound levels or the mix, from where I was sitting...

Thanks Coach. Licking my chops. I've resisted so far listening or viewing any clips of the new songs. This sounds like the tour is a progression of last year's tour. I'm really looking forward to meeting you in Des Moines, seeya in a week. smile

Lovely words, coach.

Re: Omaha, NE 4/11/14

My wife and I had our first live Bonamassa experience at the Omaha show, on the aisle 9 rows back from the "real" front row as coach puts it. We absolutely loved every aspect of the acoustic set. But for the second half of the show, we would agree with other posters negative feelings on the sound.  Now, part of our problem could have been the old music hall itself or that the left overhead speaker stack was basically straight in front of us, but it got so bad that my wife had to retreat to the lobby for a couple songs during the middle of the concert. We left wondering how, at 32, we had become those old people who complain about that loud music.  We still had a great time, but it certainly detracted from our experience.
A request for Joe and the team, when you return to Omaha in the future, I hope you consider the Holland Center as your venue, which has the world-class acoustics fitting of your talents.

Great review! And I love your fake setlists, they look awesome! But, the song that's listed as "Happiness" actually should be "Love Ain't A Love Song", right?

I'm broke, motherf**ker!

Yikes! Of course it should be! It was the wee small hours of Saturday morning when I was working on that, so I plead exhaustion...  :fp

Awesome review Coach! .. Glad u had a great time.

Further On Up The Road, So Its Like That, Last Kiss .. the fun tunes that make my feet move without thought .. lol
