Now, I will discuss the future of this endeavor. I am seeing people who say they want to change the format, or retire the winners, or make some changes. I wanted to run the same tournament two years in a row to see if we got a different result. And we actually did, if you look at last year's results. Two different winners in two years, although the final has been the same. But where Jimi Hendrix easily beat Zeppelin last year, this year was a completely different affair, which did show that in one year things can change. I also would argue that we were one vote away from a Beatles-Led Zeppelin finale, but oh well. Also, I saw a lot of different bands get into the tournament this year after not making it last year and have some pretty awesome success (B.B. King, CSNY, the Foo Fighters).
I do feel the need to change it up a little for next year however. I disagree with the idea of a hall of fame, because my opinion is one year eventually you're going to have only bands in it that aren't that popular. There is something to having a champion defend their title.
What I do like is having the idea of changing up the subject of next year's tournament, maybe changing it up every year. The Joe songs idea is a good one. My goodness we're not that far away from being able to have a field of 64 featuring Joe's albums! But for suspense's sake, I guess we'll have to wait til next to see what that is. Thanks for voting everybody! It's been another fun one!
