WooHoo! I am all over this thread hijax! Got me goin' with that hornographic version vision! Multiply the horns to 8 and make it reeaaalll fat! Bring ON The Blues Brothers "some things that make us all the same. You, me, them,...everybody?! Everybody!!! Evvvereeeybaahhhdeee, neeedss, ssommebody..."
How about an old-fashioned, why be shy sing-a-long? Did it in Kindergarten, remember? Any one of these...F-U-N.
Can you imagine a horn arrangement for "Feats Don't Fail Me Now?" Call and response with individual horns and audience singing?

My favorite desired horn blowout audience participation Joe Bonamassa song, just like BB & Bobby
"Let The Good Times Roll"

And back to that Solomon Burke song.... "...someone to love...I need you! You! You!"

Darn Tootin' Fun Time ON & Keep the Faith,
Rocket
mine too, this is great news. Maybe he's been listening to some vintage Little Feat. Bring on the horns!!! You do remember the RAH concert right?

Most of those were Chicago style blues tunes, with horns & such. I know a lot of people like that stuff, but to me if it sounds like a song that Belushi & Aykroyd did with the Blues Brothers, it hit the ripping room floor.
So just to pick one, I'll say "You Better Watch Yourself" off of Dust Bowl. And in the same vein, the Shepherds Bush Empire DVD from the Tour de Force set is my least favorite of the four for the same reason, although most of it is excellent - as all of Joe's stuff generally is. After all, the goal of this thread is to get nitpicky with an incredible catalog of material to choose from.
Stand by for some big disappointment. Joe considers a band with horns his favorite. I bet there is plenty on the new release.
I remember Joe saying he wanted to do a tour with horns in the future. I would love, love, love to see it happen! So many songs made wonderful with horns!

That statement is exactly what brought me to hijack this thread. The heck with what we don't like. Personally, I like some more than others and dislike exactly none.
I remember Joe on the stage at Shepherds Bush saying that the blues band with the horn section was his idea of the best. "A proper Blues Band" is what I think he said.
I'd bet dollars to doughnuts that the "special tribute band" coming up at Red Rocks will include a big dose of those horns, and I can't wait. Saxes, trumpets, trombones. Bring them all on! Muddy Waters and Howlin Wolf = Chicago style Blues if memory serves.

Yeah, Joe's affinity for a horn section has been pretty obvious in watching the "making of" videos on youtube for both Tour de Force and Live from Amsterdam .
Luckily, I don't dislike the horns at all - just the Chicago style blues songs where they are somewhat of a signature to that genre. For instance, I've always thought the horn section & two drummers on the RAH Live DVD made for an outstanding overall sound for the entire concert.

yet his biggest crowd pleasing songs, in concert, John Henry, Sloe Gin, Mountain Time and Just Got Paid do not use horns even when available. IE, RAH I.

So? that doesn't mean Joe doesn't consider a horn band his favorite.

I seem recall Joe saying that he particularly likes playing a Chicago shuffle with a brass section.

No, you seem to have missed my point, not the first time, which is, Joe's favorite band may include horns, but, his FANS may not agree. The FAN FAVORITES in concert are songs that do not use brass. (See above) I'll go one further, if you look at the favorite bands of the forum readers as listed in a recent thread, I believe you would be hard pressed to find many in the top ten, FAN FAVORITES, that used brass much at all. I am not anti-brass, some of my favorite Joe song's use brass. Just, if you asked me and I realize no one did, I would like about a 2/3 to 1/3 ratio of non-horn to horn.
I see your point. But there's still fan favorite songs that include horns, like Stop!, So It's Like That and Asking Around For You, for example.

Exactly, good point.
I was at the RAH concert where Joe used a horn section. Sadly on the night they were drowned out in the mix and were completely inaudible from my position at the rear of the stalls in front of the mixing desk.
Lester.
I must be one of the few that likes..... When She Dances

I like the song. Not a favorite but I think a good song specially when in the mood.
I must be one of the few that likes..... When She Dances
I really like When She Dances
(it's the only one on Had to Cry Today, rest of the CD is very country feeling)
I think Joe could add this "ballad" to the softer part of the show, I think he could pull off the Volume Swells well in full concert mode.
Honestly I l o v e "When She Dances". Such a romantic and emotional tune.
