CSNY pulled away late to get by Dire Straits 14-10 in what was a back-and-forth affair. Foo Fighters jumped to an early lead, and were able to hold off Judas Priest 14-10. Bad Company wins a wild one over Buddy Guy 13-11. Lynyrd Skynyrd beats John Fogerty 18-6.

The Babe Bracket
SRV blanks Jeff Healey 24-0. Cream beats Deep Purple 16-8. The Allmans trounce Metallica 22-2. Rush pulls away late from the Black Keys to win 14-10. In a mild upset, Free defeats CCR 15-9. in a very back-and-forth battle, Black Sabbath overpowers Robin Trower 14-10. The Beatles handle Ronnie Baker Brooks easily 20-4.

Jimi Hendrix dominated Doyle Bramhall II 24-0. Aerosmith beats Bob Seger 15-9. Neil Young scoots by Fleetwood Mac 13-10. Queen defeats Nirvana 17-7. Robert Cray and Santana went to overtime, and in the closest match of the first round, eeks by Santana 20-19. The Rolling Stones beat the Police 18-6. In another really close one, Jeff Beck comes back from 3 down to beat Kenny Wayne Shepherd 13-11. And ZZ Top handles BTO easily, cruising to a 23-1 victory.
