Re: California Breed Release

Well...it's Glenn, isn't it? Haha...
I have spoken to Andrew and sent him a copy of CR Magazine featuring himself and the band of course...he seems a nice guy. Great talent. Massive low-end sound from Dave Cobb. I look forward to the new album.

Re: California Breed Release

not impressed either, I guess you like his voice or you don't. The most glaring thing to me is the guitar riff itself, just plain middle of the road, same old, same old. I don't play any more, but give me an hour or so and I can play that rhythm easily. The lead sounds like a cheap arse copy of Angus.

Re: California Breed Release

The choice has to be something to do with 'in yer face'. Brash and loud. I happen to like Glenn's voice particulalry when he holds it slightly in check a la BCC, so I hope he does the same here. Visually they strike a pose, and they all sing, and they all write.

I didn't expect them to be ploughing any new furroughs anyway. This is 'Rawk' isn't it? I'll reserve judgement. I liked Glenn's song ideas with BCC, although as we now know, the fleshing out of those ideas was a team effort. But if the same magic is here I'll be after it............

Re: California Breed Release

I like it. Also heard the song Midnight Oil on Planet Rock earlier - full of Jason's trademark drumming. This is gonna be a strong rock album and a must see live band.

Agreed.

Re: California Breed Release

If you can get past Glenn's stage persona, maybe. Andrew Watt is a pretty good guitarist and a solid songsmith. If the personalities dont clash there might be a second album. But I'm not gonna bet on that.

Re: California Breed Release

Need  to hear a bit more yet. The one track is ok but doesn't float my boat on first listen. Will try to persevere though. At least it isn't BCC mk 2 big_smile

Come on the Blades (sorry Idolbone just had to borrow your line)

to be honest I am not impressed

Indeed: Not really impressed, too. But nevertheless I will check out the other new material...

I like Andrew's hat.

Re: California Breed Release

If I could of stood to watch the entire thing I would want the 3:54 back of my life. Fortunately I bailed with the first Glenn scream so I only lost 1:30. Cheesy video to say the least. I give it one album one tour then done. Sorry can't hide my distaste for Mr Huges and the others are guilt by association. Go ahead and flame me but bear in mind I can kill this thread if needed. I'm just being honest no diplomacy here.

Re: California Breed Release

I like it, it's a good riff but the song overall is not that good, but it sounds great and I'm looking forward to the full album

I'm broke, motherf**ker!

Re: California Breed Release

Oh my, I have to say that video was just comical. The prancing about, the gratuitous hot woman sucking on a lemon, half the time Glen's singing into a mic the other half singing into the air. Why bother even having the mic? It almost seemed like a parody of an MTV metal band.

Re: California Breed Release

Hella Yeah!  KickA Rock!

Great opening single.  Really gets the juices flowing.  big_smile

They look good together. Glenn's vocals are great, fits right in the song.  He knows when to let it go and when to hold back.  He has every reason to Swag being one of the greatest rock singers ever for me.  He knows how to rock, and that isn't even as hard as he can get.  It was just right for that song.  He is just remarkable at his age or any age and is vocally strong as ever.  It's great to have some new music and looking forward to the album.  The 3 look good together and I never heard of Andrew so this will be a nice new vibe.

Interesting they mentioned some vocal harmonies, and he has some female back-up singers on the one song they mentioned.  Love to hear how this sounds.

Re: California Breed Release

I played it and a voice from the kitchen said "Who and what is that?!" Oh, that is Glen Hughes and his new band. "Well, that's enough!" It didn't make it past 2:10. She who must be obeyed has spoken.
Take it to Rio and Buenos Aires Glenn. They love you down there.

Unfair.

People will either like it or not, but this is also not a place for elephant feet from the so-called mods. You have been extremely heavy handed in the past...and I'd rather Joe have the last say if it got too bad.
It's music. It's all good. Don't listen to it otherwise.

Re: California Breed Release

I dug it. Great stuff. It is rock and roll after all, and rock it does.

I can disagree with your assessment of my forum moderating style as I gave my honest opinion on this subject as well as other subjects here in Other Artists. I was fully prepared for an ensuing flaming of my personal opinions and that is what I meant by my willingness to zap this thread if it happens. You are free to voice your opinion here just as I did. You like California Breed that is your right and it is also mine to not. Only good music is good in my opinion. So just to be clear. I won't tolerate jabs at me or anybody else and this is not the Glenn Hughes forum so I can decide whether or not ideas can be exchanged on this subject, that is my call. Joe jumps in the fray it may stay but if you attack me it will go.

Re: California Breed Release

If someone has a personal jab...that post/person should be sought directly by you and dealt with...I agree. I don't feel a thread should suffer unless it is out of control - I'm guessing people learnt their lesson from last time on that. Glenn is a Marmite character, but this is a new rock band regardless of the previous connections. There are going to be comparisons (fairly, but mostly unfairly) drawn up against Joe and Andrew...he has the big boots to fill.
Let's hope it continues with meaningful opinion.
