Good news indeed and cracking lineup.
Thanks Kenny. It's intriguing that this link shows all bands playing on the Saturday, 28th June. Very strange. According to the local press there's a possibility that Macca may be playing, so maybe he'll be there on the Sunday.
Looks like tickets go on general sale on Friday with a presale on Thursday. I can only see one ticket price of £62.50 which, if it's for the two days, is very reasonable.
Phil
Thanks Kenny. Sounds interesting although I'm not a big fan of festivals. If I can get a day ticket I might well go.
a much better venue/event than Download! maybe I will get my fix of Joe this year after all!
When I opened my copy of today's Metro (the UK's nationally distributed free newspaper) this morning I saw the full page advert for the Calling Festival with a pic of Aerosmith "plus JOE BONAMASSA, Thunder and Walking Papers and more to be announced". The page is headed "Clapham Common - Saturday 28 June" so hopefully Joe's appearance on the Saturday is fixed.
Gotta love this quote from the Metro's website: "Aerosmith will be joined by ............... and guitar mastermind Joe Bonamassa"
Maybe it's not so daft as Joe would be great appearing on the quizshow Mastermind. "And your specialist subject Mr Bonamassa is the Les Paul electric guitar".
Phil
Phil, Reading your post just made me miss queuing up with you in a line somewhere for hours on end in the bitter cold love your quick thinking and wit....totally made me laugh out loud here at work with your comment.

Nothing daft about that description, Phil, except not using capitalization for Guitar Mastermind...
I take it "Mastermind" is some British game show?

best I do not make any comment on why the series has never crossed the Atlantic
You guessed correctly sir. It's a pretty tough quiz show on BBC TV with a specialist round followed by general knowledge questions. Details here. There is no prize money and it's the prestige of winning the coveted title that makes it popular. There's a cut glass trophy for the series winner.
The other websites reporting on the Calling Festival are celebrating Joe as a "guitar maestro", which is what we know him as, of course.

I like "Guitar Mastermind" myself. We know him hinting at that from time to time. I ALSO like THIS>yet another television appearance suggestion...

I'm missing you too, Patty. :hug I'm pleased to say it's much warmer here this year so if the weather is cycling in alternate years as it seems to be I just hope Joe isn't planning on coming to the UK in March 2015. Mid to late May is a good time - hint hint.
Hey, it's almost the anniversary of Joe's Tour de Force around London. How time flies.

Definitely going to this Festival !
Well, I got my ticket in the pre-sale this morning. Prices range from £62.50 ($105) for the standard standing ticket I bought for the 28th June up to £299 ($500) for a VIP ticket with granstand seating and all day buffet and bar. After last year's excesses my wallet's taking a rest this time.
Still, it's been a nice surprise that I'll be seeing Joe again this year as I'd resigned myself to having to wait until 2015 for my next Bonafix.
Maggie and Lydia have also bought tix - no surprise there Anyone else yet?
Phil
I have my one Phil. We bought 3 this morning and there could be more. Plus Thunder are the ultimate festival band.
I saw a post from Joe saying to a Dutch query that his return there is 12 months away. UK will be near then I would think.
Thanks Joe .... The huge London Bonamassa following will be greatful for this show plus we get Aerosmith too cool beans
wonder if Brad Whitford and Joe Perry had a little word one time wasnt they at The Baked Potato one night?

I've noticed that the day capacity is restricted to 45,000. Assuming it's a sell out, which is quite likely, will this be the largest audience that Joe has played to? I'm assuming that everyone will be heading to the stage where Joe is playing and ignoring the acts on the other stages, of course.
I'm keeping an eye out for rumours of further acts to be announced and will let you know if I see any.
Only 15 weeks and 2 days to go.
Phil
I think Download usually has 80,000 Phil and for that reason I am out
Just announced - Stevie Wonder has been added - Sunday 29th - no doubt headlining! Yeah!
