Re: Forum players under 21

I play guitar in a blues band called Julia & The Basement Tapes right now, feel free to check us out on facebook, soundcloud or youtube! I have also done a Bonamassa tribute-concert, but since the forum does not allow links at the moment, I'm going to have to ask you to go to youtube and search for "Johan Borgh Sloe Gin" and you should be able to find it! smile

Regards,

Johan Borgh

It's very exciting how much young talent resides in this community. The numbers are growing quickly. It would be nice to have a place where you can post your videos, connect with others your age, and not have it disappear onto page 3 in a few days. So I hope this becomes your "hangout".       Cathy

Lucas Blue, from France, whose English is limited, performed in the youth showcase at the IBC's. He's VERY talented and I think he'll be back to compete in the future. Here's Red House    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=szT44Htvztc

I am 16. Here is the link from the Play Crossroads contest last year. Go to the playcrossroads website, click browse, and search: Roxy. I wrote an instrumental called "For Joe," and I covered Miss You, Hate You.

Re: Forum players under 21

I've been on a school holiday this week and have finished off the first song i've ever written... I wanted something quite raw like The Black Keys so the vocals don't have any pitch correcting, it's all natural out of tune me...Quite a long guitar solo towards the end using my Les Paul through the pedalboard into the Bluesbreaker recorded with a Shure SM57 onto Apple Garageband. Hope you like it, any constructive criticism is very much appreciated!

Alex-
You did all that yourself?! Nice job man! I really liked both of your rhythm guitar tones, especially the fuzz rhythm. Sounded like the amp was gonna explode...cool

Thank you very much! That fuzz tone is from the Earthquaker Devices Hoof fuzz which i originally wanted to use for the main riff but it sounded a bit too heavy, it seemed to work fine for the chorus rhythm though luckily! The levels on that track were really into the reds on that haha, probably a producers worst nightmare but rock'n'roll sometimes has to sacrifice the listeners ears as Mr Townshend will tell you! Thanks again though, i really appreciate the feedback smile

Re: Forum players under 21

Hi, I submitted this for my GCSE Solo Piece earlier this year. It's a rendition of Woke Up Dreaming as performed at the Royal Albert Hall, only with no lyrics. The introduction is lifted from what I remember from seeing Joe play at the Brighton Centre two years ago. The second and third fast A minor arpeggios at 2:17 and 2:50 are a bit iffy but hopefully don't detract from the whole piece. I was told by my music teacher that it would have gotten a 2-1 at degree level which I'm very pleased about! If you find the beginning a little slow, just skip past it... Hope you all like it!

Here it is (you'll have to paste it into your address bar and maybe add 'h t t p : / /' before it as the forum wouldn't let me post an actual link):

That's some mightily impressive playing there, Joe, well done. I hope you can find the time amongst all your other activities to keep practicing. You have a bright future ahead if you can play like that at only 16.

I've pasted a link below so that others will find it easier to listen.

Thank you so much! Very encouraging words and the link really helps smile

Btw, the guitar takes up the vast majority of my time and interest so I hope I'll continue to improve as I have over the last 5 or 6 years.
