I think it really is recognition to be nominated. There were five albums in the category... only one can win. Obviously our personal favorite is Joe & Beth but I'm happy for their nomination and the extra exposure for both of them in any case.

  • Ditto...this is the way I feel too.

Short & sweet, just absorb this...Led Zeppelin NEVER won a Grammy!  (And I'm not including a long after the fact makeup  recognition award) wink

ALSO, I felt such a twinge of irony when they played the 'JOE BONAMASSA' Cadillac commercial during the Grammys!!! lol

  • My feelings, too. A win would have been cool, but I'm happy for Charlie Musselwhite!

I'm still much more annoyed that the Grammys choose to put the vast majority of their emphasis on popular forms of music and so much great music - Blues, Jazz, Classical, Gospel, etc. - is relegated to a pre-show and virtually ignored. Sad.

I need to let everyone know I feel as you all do, and certainly as Proud for Beth and Joe as they can be for themselves!  And I don't have to bear the embarrassments of Grammytorical Eros of Dis Missionary positioning made over time...I've paid Charlie Musselwhite much more respect than the Acadamnhicks, so YEAH! I'm real glad for he and Ben. cool

ha, yeah, I was thinking that the Joe & Beth dvd might be a strong contender for 2014, assuming there is a category for that.

anyway i didn't watch the televised stuff but I did watch alot of the pre-ceremony. I don't want to knock her excessively but I agree with nmagcorn regarding Cyndi as host. It was almost painful to watch really. It seemed as if maybe she hadn't had a chance to read any of it, strange there was no teleprompter or reading glasses for that matter? but also just not something that she was cut out for or in the right state of mind at the time.... just kind of strange and hard to overlook. Her skirt was cute though!
Hey it could've been script assemblage...and the writing itself!!! These daze of horrendous journalistic faux pas (I am not above), it's also NOT beyond a professional to take blame like a head coach or ship Captain going down down down with somebody else's **##, Ooops, slip, but HIS (or HERS, wink) ship...

and here I must lay down my little piece of Bonamassa trivia. I never completely confirmed it but I am pretty sure about ten years ago Cyndi and Joe had the same voice coach. I forget how I came up with that, IIRC Joe had mentioned the name of who he was working with and I did some web searching and found her site which listed Cyndi as a client.
I believe that was Katie Agresta...what I cannot recall if it was some anecdote that Phoebe Snow recommended her through Phil Ramone or my mind is being pseudo-revisionist...Guess I'll have to ask him, the other two greats rest in peace. hmm  I know he thanked Phoebe on liner notes...but I think 10 years ago sounds more like it, Jane, for "Had To Cry Today," right? Perhaps I just have the crosspaths crossed because I know all were of them were student athletes of Katie...

ps-Ben and Charlie did "I'm In, I'm Out, I'm Gone." which sounded great, killer blues song...but Charlie was the only one who didn't mess up... big_smile Old guys RULE tongue

Re: Joe & Beth get a Grammy Nomination

That was a good show. Thanks Jane for reminding me to tune in. Love hearing that the Beth & Joe collaborations will continue and a tour is in the future. They are a musical match made in heaven! Love the banter back and forth between Joe and Matt. Joe remarking how "the party never starts at the Joe Bonamassa house" lol! And last week's of Joe calling himself "the Almighty Sponge". Very entertaining show and quite educational as well. They are both funds of information.
