can go to Grammy site and comment under the article about the first round of performers picked and mention who you would like to see

i think you have to be on FB though sorry thought it was just their regular site but if you are on fb....

Blake Shelton a Highwayman????? Hardly! Talk about pandering...

So get on there and let your feelings be known, those of you who do things on Facebook.

I bet every performer would probably be a bit worried (or snarky later) if Beth & Joe took the stage...AND the Grammy!!! big_smile
I am laying out a triple dog dare to NARAS and CBS...

Re: Joe & Beth get a Grammy Nomination

I could be wrong, but I don't think the blues category is one of the categories that is televised. Isn't it part of the pre-telecast ceremony earlier in the day? I think that part is available on the web at a later time.

Hi, I read today on Billboardbiz under "Grammy Week Events" that there is a pre-telecast:

"The popular pre-show, streamed live at Grammy.com, reveals the winners of the majority of the awards handed out in 82 categories."  It starts at 1:00 p.m. at the LA Convention Center, I assume that's Cali time.

I would guess that's when the blues category will be covered.

Used to be in the days of Yore that there were performances in the prime time by blues musicians. Now the blues is relegated with polka and midevil fugue categories.
What I can't figure is that if blues in all it's variations is considered a bygone genre, then why are there a gazillion great blues/bluesrock artists out there still drawing audiences. In Joes case filling up some big halls?
Maybe they just don't get it that when they have put Jack White on or the Black Keys that these are also blues based music and not far removed from the more traditional blues that has been swept under the proverbial rug and out of the Grammies main radar.I know the ratings are based on the popular top 40 acts to get ratings for the show. But too bad they cant open their  eyes to see what a buzz might be created to have a Beth and Joe on primetime!

It's driven by corporate artist and label factories, so they toss the rest a bone, and the rest have been getting a smaller and smaller piece.

This was posted on Facebook :
For those who don't want to wait for the live telecast about the Best Blues album announcement, you can go to grammys.com for the pre-telecast at 4:00 pm eastern time. It is one of the categories being presented then. Good luck Joe and Beth !!

I also believe this has an enormous snowball effect. The viewing audience sees only the most popular music, which means they miss out on an opportunity to be exposed to non-mainstream artists like Joe and Beth. Some percentage of music fans watching the Grammy broadcast would become fans of these artists.
We've seen what happened to Joe when PBS and Palladia aired RAH 1...his fan base exploded. Can you imagine the additional fans jumping on the bandwagon if they performed at the Grammies?
