Topic: Norman's Rare Guitar/Musicians Institute Benefit Show Jan 11

http://fromhollywoodwithlove.charityhappenings.org/

This show looks like it is going to be pretty cool. Joe will be there as well as Robben Ford and a whole bunch of other guitarists. It looks like it is quite long as well since it goes from 7:30 - 11:30. I wonder whether the musicians will be playing with each other or just singly with a backing band because if you have a VIP pass you can go to a reception room where the musicians will be going to before or after their performances. This makes it seem like each musician is doing his own set. Seems a little odd to get up in the middle of a show and go to a M&G, but who knows. Wonder when Joe will be going on stage. Hope there is some jamming between the musicians. That would be really cool to see.

Re: Norman's Rare Guitar/Musicians Institute Benefit Show Jan 11

Joe posted a vid promo on his facebook wall and mentioned Kirk Fletcher will be sitting in "during his set", so it seems there will be several sets of bands with roving stars sitting in. Probably a mass jam at the end. See you there.

Edit to correct from Kris to Kirk Fletcher. This guy is a smokin' hot Bluesman. Joe wasn't lying! cool

Pete the Cabby found this clip of Kirk Fletcher. Joe said this guy could school most players. I concur. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aRTtdnVXOcI

That's some good stuff right there!

Why don't we eliminate all the warning labels and let things sort themselves out?

Joe I feel like I never say what I was planning on saying when I'm standing in front of you. When we said goodbye I wanted to say how incredibly cool it was that you played "Never Make Your Move To Soon". Never in a million years was I expecting you to play that and it was such an unexpected treat. What an amazing rendition. Loved seeing you jam with everyone. Those kind of moments is why we come out for shows like this. Of course a chance to soak up some warm weather for a day or two was also a motivation wink. Felt bad that you and Robben Ford didn't both get a chance to play for longer. You both deserved to have had more time. But as you said, that is the nature of these events. So thank you for the unexpected pull out and we now look forward to February for something completely different smile

Re: Norman's Rare Guitar/Musicians Institute Benefit Show Jan 11

What a very fun night! Lots of money raised for a great cause and nearly 5 hours of music. Nice hang in the vip room with the players, got a nice shot of Joe and Robben Ford chatting with big smiles. Got to meet a new addition to the BonaSpud gang from San Diego and he, at my urging went and got to meet Joe. big_smile I even got Joe to sign a Strat for one of the students that I took back to the vip room. "I'd only do this for you, and not even an F word in the siggie." What a guy. That young man was over the moon when I came back and handed him the powder blue strat with Joe's signature on it.
I got the whole night's entertainment for the most part. I'll upload Jimmy, Kirk and Joe jamming a Blues Deluxe for the ages first. A smooth and dreamy one this time on Big Red.

Patty got to listen in to this last night. Cell phone clamped between my knees and camera rolling from ground zero. She rated it an 11. Blues Deluxe on Big Red. http://youtu.be/n2eDFszKfC8

Thank you Natasha and Rick for capturing / sharing.  Had to be a great show.

Phil saw a pick on the stage when they were cleaning things up. Turns out it is Orianthi's! She played with Richie Sambora.

Here is a great jam with Joe, Kirk and Jimmy. Still need to figure out the song title.

And this is "Blues Deluxe" from my angle. It was such a stunning rendition. Loved everyone's solos and Joe's voice was just incredible

This really was quite an amazing event. It had so many different artists playing all types of music and it went on for nearly 5 hours. I did video of nearly all the performances so I thought I would start a thread in other artists about it. Thought people might want to see some Robben Ford, Orianthi, etc.

awesome vids natasha! That blues deluxe melted my face off! lol I wish Joe would add that to his setlist more often!
