Re: Joe Goes Platinum!

It's a sign of the times.  When I joined Joe's facebook page 3 years ago, there were 5000 members ... now there are 1.9 million!  These days more people know who Joe is when I mention his music.  A friend (who has attended several Joe concerts with me, even one in the UK) called last night to tell me her brother-in-law had given her a cd over Thanksgiving holidays saying "you've gotta listen to this guy," and it was one of Joe's cd's!

Joe's and Beth's talent and perserverance has gotten them where they are and both have my sincere congratulations on reaching this milestone.  I agree with Michael, there's a certain amount of "so what" attitude toward the Grammy's but at least it is the music establishment acknowledging both Joe & Beth, and that's huge.

Re: Joe Goes Platinum!

Never imagined I could feel this enormous amount of satisfaction and vindication for another person.

Rocket is right, RAH 1 is the absolute gold standard.  Impossible to feel any more proud for our Joe.

Re: Joe Goes Platinum!

I own all DVDs of Joe Bonamassa. My favourite is 2009 RAH. But pity, as if the sound disappears a little on some songs. Spoils the pleasure to watch the concert. To fully appreciate it, i have to watch the Youtube version, where there is not this sound problem!
Maybe there is not this problem on a US or german import DVD? if anyone could let me know, i would appreciate it.

Re: Joe Goes Platinum!

Midiland, no problem with the sound on my U.S. RAH DVD.

I'm pretty sure the Platinum sales award is for the DVD. 100K is a huge number for a music DVD. So far no Gold or Platinum CD sales 500,000 or 1,000,000 copies for any artist is a daunting feat especially for an Indy label. Those kind of sales would chart in Billboard hot 100. That is getting harder and harder to do now that CD sales overall have plummeted.

I was interested in looking this up because I thought it was a typo. According to RIAA, a Longform video can sell 100k copies (not a million) to get Platinum status for the video.
