Can anyone tell me the guitar chord played hight upon the neck that is heard repeatedly at 6:17?
I wouldn't be money on it, but it sounds like a regular Fmin7 to me (barre the 13th fret, don't hit the A string, E string is optional).
---13--- F
---13--- C
---13--- Ab
---13--- Bb
---x---
---13--- F (I don't think he's hitting this, but it's just an extra root - not really needed).
Thank you - I thought it sounded like a 6th or a ninth but my theory is rusty. I appreciate your help.

A while back I was trying to figure out the piano part to Pink Floyd's "Great Gig in the Sky" on guitar - I kept trying all these permutations of B minors, trying to find the right chord - B-7, B-6, B-7b5, etc... different voicings, different inversions... nothing sounded right. It was just a plain, old B minor chord.
For reference, this?

I believe it's an F6add9.
13 - F
13 - C
12 - G
12 - D
x
13 - F (optional-don't think Joe plays it)
It's a cool chord that can be played in lots of situations...Also one of the last chords at the end of the studio version of Whipping post (think it's an E in that one).
I have a different theory for the chord in Wake Up Dreaming, try this:
In my opinion, he's playing all 6 strings. He uses a capo on the 1st fret, so it's regular tuning. Having the capo on the first fret, I think he plays
1st: 13th fret (F)
2nd: 13th fret (C)
3rd: 12th fret (G)
4th: 12th fret (D)
5th: 12th fret (A)
6th: open (F)
Wow, ken beat me to it. I still think he plays the 5th string, and it's rather obvious he's hitting the open 6th string for a low F

Yep, you're probably right about the open 6th...maybe the 5th as well...(I don't have the sound on the video)

Good ear! Both a 6th and a 9th in there, not so rusty after all.

Yup, you guys are right. Nice. Your theory might be rusty, but your ears aren't.
