Topic: Crossroads Jam with Zakk Wylde

Zakk posted a Facebook pic of "Father Joe" and him together on stage (I assume last night).  Need a video link pronto folks.

I like them trading solos towards the end! Fun stuff!

Re: Crossroads Jam with Zakk Wylde

Now that was cool and very enjoyable.  The solo's were indeed brilliant.

Re: Crossroads Jam with Zakk Wylde

Haha.  Joe came in a little early on that first solo break.  The man is actually human!!  Who knew?

The differences in tone an clarity could not be in more stark contrast right?  I have to admit I like all kinds of tones and I have been a huge Zakk fan since he debuted with Ozzy and continued on with P&G, solo, and BLS.  But Zakk has his sound so overly saturated in chorus and whatnot this last decade, I have to wonder why he doesn't hear how it overwhelms his natural tone.

In any case, another super cool fan moment for me.  Who knew borrowing a Joe Bonawho? CD nearly a decade ago was going to lead to such a great musical journey?

Zakk is definitely a phenomenal player but I know what you're saying in the tone differences. I'd imagine it was clearer in person. He sounds good in his band tho. Seems like a cool dude too. Would love to meet him.

Re: Crossroads Jam with Zakk Wylde

I am not a fan of metal and I had never before heard ZW play. And based on this performance I never want to hear him again. Perhaps I'm missing something here but I thought his first solo was one of the worst I have ever witnessed.

Re: Crossroads Jam with Zakk Wylde

I watched and although Zakk is an awesome metal player the style is not for me. So great for Joe to have him. I have seen interviews with Zakk and he seems like a nice guy. Cheers Ron

You are right. You are funnier than me! Depend on me to not ever video an entire show (and highly likely not by full intent!)?! Agreed! tongue

It was uploading as I was leaving for the San Diego show, so I had no chance to post it up, so thanks be to both, plus Cathy Dear.

I have to say, these cats smoked it, realizing I am not accounting for specific aversions some have.  Not me.  Great!!!  Joe says at the end, "You don't see that a a blues show!" lol

Re: Crossroads Jam with Zakk Wylde

I know!!! I totally cut off Father Zakk! I could swear he gave me the cue!! All on me!  I felt horrible about it but we laughed it off. What a blast and he could not be a cooler person both onstage and off.

Re: Crossroads Jam with Zakk Wylde

That was great. Loved when Zakk had the Pride & Glory thing going.

What's the old saying ....Less notes are always more?  Someone tell Zakk.

Re: Crossroads Jam with Zakk Wylde

AWESOME! Love Zakk's work with Ozzy. I would have LOVED to be there at this jam.

DON'T LIKE METAL? If you like the Allmann Brothers or souther rock, you should definitely check out Zakk Wyle Book of Shadows from the mid 90's. It's acoustic southern rock. Really good stuff.

I like Zakk but I have to agree the first solo was appalling, and as I watched I thought, "Hmmm, he's completely forgotten his blues cues". It was a mercy Joe cut him off!

But it did improve and it was obviously fun for them both.

Does anyone know if the ere is a clip anywhere of Zakk playing at the Classic Rock awards? Apparenlty he played piano, sang and brought the house down. Sounds it might be something to see.

Re: Crossroads Jam with Zakk Wylde

I like Zakk a lot and have a bunch of his music. But that is a terrible solo for sure, as you say it was merciful that Joe did intervene to end it. No charge for mistakes and no charge for having to make one in self defense. smile

Re: Crossroads Jam with Zakk Wylde

Thought I was watching a Nigel Tufnel solo there for a minute. No tuning of violins involved, but chorus goes to....eeeleven.
