Topic: Show Cancelation Policy Info?? * Looks Like Reno Could Be Snowed Out?

It's been voiced in other posts, the possibility  the pending Sierra snow storm could shut Highway 80 and/ or Highway 50, putting the travel to Reno very hazardous (if not impossible) for Joe and Fans.

Any help finding out show cancellation policy and procedure, would be very much appreciated.

I purchased the Tour d' Force box set with the tickets and Meet & Greet.

Even if the show goes on,  I may not be able to make it out of the Tahoe Basin due to road closure.

Any advice?

Oh Mother Nature!!

Stay right here.  Calm down horsey gal.  For certain if Joe's not able to get his trucks in, it would be off. sad But remember, no news is (meant to be indicating, so far,...) good news.

ps-not sure about rescheduling (Joe does that), but surely refunds would be expected to be forthcoming in such event

Thank Goodness Tamara was working late.     She asked me to be in touch with her tomorrow.

She will try to get me current information, as well look into the changing weather conditions.

The National Weather Service has an Alert for extreme cold, as low as minus 20 degrees and high winds.

She will advise me then as to my best options if I am snowed in the basin, but the show still going on.

Thanks to the J&R Team for being so available and helpful.    Top notch people seem to flock to Joe B.

Wow! Minus 20F with winds! Only very, very, hearty venture out...this could be one for the ages.

Thanks Rocket for the support.  I am about to go out and bring in more wood upstairs.  (I live on the send floor with only wood heat).  I already stocked up for the winter blitz before I went to Idaho.  Coffee, Honey and sack of Krusteaz, mix with water, pancake mix and toilet paper to last until March pretty much has me covered.

Battery powered boom box to keep the Joe flowing no matter what.   35 years on this mountain has taught me to RESPECT Mother Nature!!  I have seen it snow so hard, your teeth shake and watched the store shelves look like locusts have hit it if there are visitors caught inside the Basin.

This sounds like furious and kind of fast moving.  Not so much accumulation as bad driving from the cold making the snow dry and fine, while winds drive the white out conditions.

All about the timing!  Keep the Faith and know that all things work for GOOD and All's Well That End's Well!!

Just a thought........if you left now, you'd probably be there in time! Good luck!

Why don't we eliminate all the warning labels and let things sort themselves out?

Re: Show Cancelation Policy Info?? * Looks Like Reno Could Be Snowed Out?

Okay!   11 PM now and  It looks like the severe wind alert has expired for Friday night into Sat.

Snow totals are in the range of a foot and without the blowing snow, travel conditions should be OK, except REALLY cold.

The equipment trucks and Joe's bus will probably have to chain, but visibility outlook very much improved.

The last few winters, Cal-Trans has been inclined to close the roads when blowing snow and high winds are predicted, even if the snow fall isn't that much.

Thanks for all the thoughts and suggestions.

If you guys holler loud enough in Oakland, may-be it will drive the whole thing to the North!

Re: Show Cancelation Policy Info?? * Looks Like Reno Could Be Snowed Out?

Hay All,  I have been monitoring the weather and I asked one of the drivers from the Moving Co. on my street what he had heard.

He said it was going to be brutal and that he heard the trucks will be held back at Applegate on I 80 starting 10PM tonight.

It's looking like Joe's best safest bet based on my 35 years in Tahoe, sit tight around Sac and go the next day.

I don't know how long it takes to set up so he could may-be make it.

My best shot for an alternate route out of the North Shoe is around the East side of the Lake, down Highway 50 into Carson City and up Highway 395 thru Washoe Valley to Reno.   That is iffy for the equipment trucks because the Washoe Valley often will have a wind problem and they stop trucks there.

I learned a hard lesson about can and should from my mechanic a few years ago, ( waiting on a tranny rebuild!) and I have lived hear 35 years, my gut says that I would rather see Joe next year than to have him and they crew put their life on the line.

Hay Guido!  Have a BLAST in Oakland!    It would be a good idea to spend an extra day to wait for Joe, but my schedule is tight getting all storm ready at home.

Last week it was just beautiful weather while I was gone, of course.

I am pretty sure Rick B will be in Oakland too and I thought I read about some of you guys getting together, so please give him and Helene a big hello  me!

Looks like Joe is hooking up the magic reindeer and plans to make the Reno show.

That is the latest that I know.

If weather and traffic reports make you wonder about a possible cancellation, the best thing is to call the venue to confirm.

I don't know how to find them but there are live feed traffic cams thru the Pass.  May-be start a  Joe watch for the bus, set out the milk and cookies and read  "Twas the Night Before Reno"!!

Latest post from Joe's Facebook page:  "Unfortunately due to severe weather in Reno we are rescheduling tomorrow nights show to Sunday. I am very sorry for the inconvenience but I am concerned for the safety of my fans, band and crew. Stay warm..!!"

Re: Show Cancelation Policy Info?? * Looks Like Reno Could Be Snowed Out?

The storm is blowin' through the Bay Area right now with a serious punch! Heavy downpour that will equate to a LOT of snow when it hits the Sierras. I'll be surprised if I-80 isn't shut down for quite a while. It's still so cold here we'll see snow on the Bay Area hilltops in the morning.

Joe told us at the meet that it was too gnarly to get the rigs over the hump. He's bummed but the show will go on, just a day late.

Rick was referring to the Oakland show meet & greet.

Snow level down to 400' in Northern California foothills. yikes  I will be very surprised if Reno goes on at all.  But I DO like surprises! wink

Re: Show Cancelation Policy Info?? * Looks Like Reno Could Be Snowed Out?

Nasty weather to be sure. I found out this morning that it snowed at my house last night and I'm at 1200 ft elevation. I stayed the night in Oakland after the show so didn't get to experience the white stuff first hand but I understand that we may get another dose tonight. We usually don't get this kind of weather till later in the season. Everyone be safe out there while traveling.

Why don't we eliminate all the warning labels and let things sort themselves out?

Re: Show Cancelation Policy Info?? * Looks Like Reno Could Be Snowed Out?

Better to be safe. For everyone.

Re: Show Cancelation Policy Info?? * Looks Like Reno Could Be Snowed Out?

Caltrans currently reports I-80 closed to semi rigs from Applegate to the Nevada state line. The road is open to smaller vehicles with chains. Caltrans is working overtime to keep the roads open.
