Re: Joe Bonamassa rarest promotional CD ?

I think -The New Day Yesterday Live- PRD 7154 2 promo Cd From Provogue with the letter from Provogue because it must be the first promo CD there is, but I'm not sure. And at the beginning of his solocareer

The letter says: 'powerful and gritty voice, tight and rockin band, lots of gutsy tunes and, last but not least, some serious guitar chops' Look for Joe Bonamassa's upcoming album and catch him on tour when he comes to town!

I did, about 40 times so far.

Re: Joe Bonamassa rarest promotional CD ?

Hi Jane, the letter doesn't have a date but the tourdates are announced and they were in May and June 2005. So before that date for sure.
My promo CDis different than the one you have from Medalist. My one says Provogue and NOT FOR SALE is at the bottom. I wish I could show you a picture but don't know how to put on the Forum. FOR PROMOTION USE is on top of the CD.
A story about Sony. Johan Dollekamp from CDshop Popeye in Hengelo (Joe was in his shop in 2005 because Johan sold most Joe Cd's in Holland) got 50 CD's from Sony for free because Sony said: This artist , Joe Bonamassa, will never be something!!!!!!!!He sold them afterwards within a few weeks!!!!!!!!

Re: Joe Bonamassa rarest promotional CD ?

Jane has probably the best collection of promotional CD's I have one form 2002 with Medalist label Coulour and Shape and Heartaches different edits. That is my earliest memory. I was trying to find the original promo package sent to my in late 2001 or early 2002 which included a copy of the studio ANDY I believe on Sony. A Sony produced VHS with Miss You Hate You and a video of guys like Phil Ramone praising Joe. There was a VHS also with that with two songs from the live ANDY video Colour and Shape and Heartaches. I can't find that. May have loaned it out and never got it back. I also have a promotional CD on Medalist with Lie #1 My Mistake studio from SILT  and Heartaches live from ANDY live from Medalist dated 2002 it was sent out in advance of SILT and has the line Get A new Day Yesterday live concert DVD with purchase of So It's Like That. I pulled these out of my box that resided in my home safe along with a few other rarities. I'm sure I wouldn't of singled these out if they weren't considered by me to be the earliest. Jane would know if I am correct.

Re: Joe Bonamassa rarest promotional CD ?

I received about a half dozen promo CD's from J&R by way of Rachael back in '07 that were compilations to support Blues In The Schools. I passed them around to radio stations as was the intention and I don't think I even have one stashed in my collection. It was a pretty nice collection of Joe's best up to that point.

Re: Joe Bonamassa rarest promotional CD ?

Jane, I got  the ANDY live CD plus Bonus DVD in August 2003 as a present for my 50th birthday. My friend Aloys heard the CD in Popeye, Johan Dollekamps CD shop and Johan played it in the shop the first time. He just got it. Aloys came in, heard it, bought it for me and as they ; the rest is history! I think the promo must be before that date, but as you said: i dunno.

OK thanks. yeah i didn't think the Provogue version came out until 2005

Now that one sounds pretty cool to me!  Any chance you could temporarily make it your avatar or link to a photo of it?  Got an interesting acquisition story about it?

The acclaimed bluesman consoles the renowned clown 'cause even clowns get the blues.

Re: Joe Bonamassa rarest promotional CD ?

I finally got around digging out and going through all the Joe promo CDs, samplers and some rarities that I have collected over the years.

Here is a link to some pictures of them, some go back to the Bloodline days and before.

Best to view in Screen show, press the play button.

Hey, thanks! That's great!  But the Rumblebees have been featured on all versions of this forum for a while.  Joe has played with them, too.  Let's see the Rumblebees tracks added to our post, please and thank-you smile ?!
