Topic: Tickets from lithograph purchases

I know this subject has been brought up before but I have to vent. I know seats are not guaranteed to be in the first few rows but our seats in Cleveland - to me - were horrible. A few rows back on the floor but in the section section of two. I've written Tamara about four times with absolutely no response. The meet and greet with Joe was great but I asked a simple question to Tamara and have received absolutely NO response at all.  I would have expected the decency of a response and my emails have been ignored.  We have another set of tickets and meet and greet with Joe next year in Red Bank NJ but I can say at this point I will not buy another lithograph unless the litho itself justifies the price. I love joe and his music but this is no way to run a business selling $500 (or higher for the Peter Max one) lithographs that include tickets.  I asked before the Cleveland show where my tickets would be and received no reply.  Now I know why.

That may not be why no reply. Tamara may not know but she should at least find something out and let you know.

This I do know. Tickets available for lithographs, Box Set packages and even PBS promotions differ  depending on venue and demand. There is a finite number of tickets in the first 5 rows. A certain number must be sold. There are holds which means tickets not offered for sale. J&R must guess at how many to hold for each show but in PBS markets there is an allotment designated for PBS patrons. Lets just say 500. Say J&R holds 100 for guest list and package tickets. That is 600 seats out of depending on the venue up to 1,000 on the floor. So filling those holds is a daunting task.

Say Joe's friend Jim has 5 guests and each member of the band and crew has 2 there goes 55 tickets. Then you have 45 tickets left I would say Joe's guests would have priority over the band and the band would have priority over crew. Then the lithograph tickets need filled and then other comps for other radio and press and don't forget the PBS people are expecting good seats too. Cleveland is a big market not like Corpus Christi Texas. A lot of demand for those holds. That is probably why you got the 2nd section of the floor. Now if you had requested seats for Albuquerque I would bet that those seats would be in the first section first ten rows.

What I'm saying is it was not an intentional slight and there is always room for improvement in how the tickets are dispersed. I'm just saying that is how it might of happened. This has been discussed. Recently a young man wanted to get the M&G and sit in the front row. I think I mentioned then he should buy the DVD package and get the M&G but to guarantee sitting in the front row he better buy his tickets from the box office or a scalper because there is no guarantee he would get great seats with the package.

Re: Tickets from lithograph purchases

I'll say that I've cashed in 6 pairs of comped tickets from various promo deals and such over the last 5 years. I never have gotten front or even as close as 2nd or 3rd center. Most have been in center orchestra back a dozen rows or so. I never complained because they were very decent seats.  I was told that  GOA seats are often assigned by the venue and that is in addition to what Jim said. Down front is a rarity, even for first millisecond presale attempts. I've often had several em's remain unreturned for quite some time but always have received a response eventually. I think the office is very busy, staffed at a minimum, and as Jim noted maybe the recipient doesn't know the answer. Sorry you are unhappy but maybe your expectations were more than could be delivered. There is no guarantee of where the seats will be that come with the deals.

Re: Tickets from lithograph purchases

I think at the Cleveland show there was a much higher demand for comp seats than at other places and the show was sold out.  We used my Bonatube contest win and received tickets for row MM which is basically the 38th row. The worst we had ever had. I sent an email to Scott (he was the contact person for me since it was not a litho situation) just to find out for future reference if there was a better time period in which to ask for tickets. I thought maybe we had put our request in too late.  He hasn't emailed back, but now that I see how many wanted tickets for this show, I realize demand for good seats far outweighed supply and I have let the matter rest. We did end up with front row at the Beacon last spring, but that was the third night of those shows and there were some empty seats near us. As Jim stated, it all depends on the venue and supply and demand.

I'll add that the venue in Des Moines where many of us are going next Spring reserves the entire front row for handicapped access according to PLJ who works there. They may release some of those at the last minute but are kept on hold for wheel chairs since the venue was not built with dedicated spots. Others may be the same.

Re: Tickets from lithograph purchases

I would like to see two options to purchase a litho one day. One package with tickets/meet and greets and one package with just the litho. That would ease up the demand for comp tickets and make those great pictures more affordable to buy.

Great thought. I actually have two lithos that I bought without the goodies I'd consider selling if anyone is interested. Email me set bump827@yahoo.com if interestedq and I'll check what I have for sale.

And what galls me more than where the seats were is the non response to multiple emails over weeks and weeks. I appreciate the comments but that is the real issue for me.  All I needed to see was "sorry but it was a hard ticket".
