Topic: When She Dances...

...if Joe is reading this, Nov. 9 at Richmond, VA, Lori and I will be coming to rock out with you and all the folks at the Landmark!

We fell in love to that song, hold one another and cry tears of joy every time we play it, singing the words to one another, rocking, gently, to it.

If there is ANY way you could play that for us...

This is her first Joe Show, my third. When I turned her on to you, she was hooked, right away, and every fan on here knows why; the passion and feeling your pour into your music and wring out of your guitars.

In any event, we're bouncing off the walls. Money has been tight but, it has all come together and we can swing the trip and can't wait!!!!

Blues!

Well congrats!  Passion is the play inn... big_smile  Thanks for the smile inducing post and well...shucksarooni, the Lovey dovey stuff.  You make it hard to bust your balls with a straight face! tongue  Better get it over with, then we'll do the glorious make-up effects text bingo:

Would you be content if the ANY way they & He played it with a 2 chord punk riff?  He could play it ANY way, Si? wink  Nahhhhh!! None of us, well maybe me & 1 other somewhere unbeknownst...BUT, yeeeshhheccck for a triple RRR rated audience accompaniment of tearfully and earfully flooded Physio-musical Lovey Doveyness? lol   Put in another's moccasins of the passed walkways perspective, what if that songs male articulated sappy but oh-so-trueful & fully Faithful dreaminess mood of severe and sincere adulation was now a blues song about a previously presumed infinite personal background of motivating contentment blown away like a seasonal dead leaf gone floating over the waterfalls of tears???  I'll take the BLUES song, personally.  Different words, different melodic mood......all that.  You did end with "Blues!" wink

AnyBonaWhoDo, It is very sweet to see you and Lori's excitement, nothin' like sharing the pair-mutual [sic] Love, so I would consider it nice to see it come about, but I think it would have to go all setlists for a while or you might get some frumpy female frowns felt 'round here! lol lol lol

Suffice to say, you'll be wringing her out Nov. 9th one way or another ( yikes)! big_smile  Oh, by the way, Nov. 9th, I'll "Wish, I was in ''Richmond,'"' right there myself, and THAT would be the coolest song in my mystique opinions... cool

LOL!!!

Great post.

If I am following you here, the song isn't just 'lovey dovey' for us. The blues base of it is the personal pain we have both suffered in previous relationships, the frustrations and failures which is, not at all to point blame at the 'others' but the collective pain and growth, the trial and error of life that LEAD US, our paths, to eventually cross and, as the song says "this love we've found found..."  man, the whole song, from 'she takes it to the heart', 'my only chance is...' 'I feel my whole life start'...man, it all just comes from the blues of life, the experiences and then it pours out in what we have found in one one another, the gaping holes we fill for one another, the...love. There is this enormous, I dunno...I guess I just like to think EVERYONE would feel what we feel for one another....when she dances.

I feel ya, and I've always felt that (quietly loud internal) emotive intensity from "When She Dances" that Joe wrote and played and sang.  That's quote a description of your Double L
(branding iron on your behinds and tattooed on your hearts wink) LLove Story!  You have it made! Congratulations on your Love Lottery winnings and for sharing some of the wealth! smile  Joe Bonamassa, the shy guy, hits it out of the park for every shy guy who was nervous at the school dance. Awesome! cool

That hope about the feeling, when, uh, she, uh, you know...had to leave the dance floor... big_smile
Best make it final encore and skip post show chit chat...

Thanks again for the heartwarming. smile

Re: When She Dances...

I love "When She Dances" great song

I also always thought of a it as a ballad to a stripper that a young JoeB would have run across in his early travels...
You know.. Lonely young guy in a bar that's been on the road, now star struck by the dancer...
(Hey Just me)

"When She Dances"

The world is cold tonight
But everything will be alright
She walks into the room
Stars to know her light

[Chorus:]
When she dances
I see where my only chance is
I feel my whole life start, babe
When she loves me
You know she really loves me
She takes it to the heart

The club is closing down
But will we still hang around
To hear another tune
And feel this love we found

[Chorus]

The night's so fine
The rose is mine

She's dancing just for me
I see with every move she makes
How good it's gonna be

[Chorus]

She takes it to the heart

yeah unfortunately for me the dancing girls in the ANDY Live dvd completely ruined that song for me and as much as I long for a great Joe love song that's not sad...
but anyway I really appreciate hearing your story Larry!!! Thanks for sharing it here. I would be real surpised if he plays that one but hey you never know and it doesn't hurt to ask especially the way you put it!

Jane, When She Dances was not in the A New Day Yesterday Live setlist.  You were referring to Are You Experienced? of course.  Incidentally, Doug, those dancing girls were more of the strip club variety in that DVD, with the public display of an artisitc innuendo, which, by the way, Jane,
I thoroughly enjoyed, and it did not detract from the music (to me-I mean, hey, Jimi wasn't singing about guitar jamming or nookie, it was getting high[err]) at all.  Joe was performing speaking to his guitar playing, his resume, and did a pretty darn good version indeed!

When She Dances...now, we aren't at the sock hop after all!!! big_smile

Hmm good point..
A dancing guitar.. didn't think of it..
plausible since a lot of male guitarist think of their guitars as women, hence most of the girls names attached to them

Jane.. ANDY is the more "younger" and "wilder" Joe, we've seen Joe post that he's moved on from that power trio

I guess that's true since he probably could have but didn't use Kenny or Eric in the Borderline show.

(don't think we'll see J/R send that video over to Lucas Flims anytime soon and insert Jar Jar Binks and Jabba anytime soon)

What I meant Rocket was that after having viewed the ANDY Live dvd , and it being the only official dvd at the time of the release of HTCT, the girls dancing was the first thing that popped to mind the first time I heard the song When She Dances. not the thing that gets me excited to say the least or in a 'love' frame of mind.
The song itself certainly did not do enough for me otherwise to replace that image in my head.

nonetheless I never had a desire to hear the song let alone live much until hearing Larry's testimonial. Now I am kind of thinking that would be cool in a way. I know many other fans have very strong feelings about it too.

different strokes for different folks
its all good

but I really can't get over you thinkin I thought that was on the dvd.....

Jane, that is why I, mostly, hate video. If we, all of us, any of us, hear music, listen, preferably live, what we all 'see' and feel is ours and ours alone and it means what it means to us, as individuals, who we are, where we come from, all of that AND THEN, the connection that we are all hearing the same piece, just the 'all' of it, the 'awe' of it is ours and for Lori and I, I guess because we listen to it together, man, it's all those things I tried to describe. It wasn't a lottery. It was living our own life as best we could and then...we met. When She Dances is, for us, such a release, such an expression, such...'the rose is mine', man, he's speaking for her, for me, for our lives, for OUR moment. It is sooooooo powerful.

And we're both kinda hard edged people in real life. Pretty tough. So, all the guards, all the defenses and protections of a lifetime just melt away and, here comes the sappy part, we meld together when we listen. If he actually played it, it would be such a mess! We'd be laughing and crying and hugging one another so tight!!! LOL

In any event, appreciate your, and others, comments. Joe Bonamassa has given us all his gift. It would be neat to know what he was thinking and feeling when he wrote it.....On second thought, I wouldn't want to know. We like it just the way it is ours.

Peace

Re: When She Dances...

Doing about a 400 mile ride out through the mountains tomorrow then back east to Richmond.

We're getting stoked!

Re: When She Dances...

Wow, how funny that this post came up today. Just this morning as the CD was playing and this song came on I was thinking about how much I dislike it. Just not my taste.

Enjoy the show, Larry & Lori, and may you fall in love all over again!
