Topic: Paul Gilbert appreciation topic

He isn't a blues player but i just watched the video of him playing Scarified and i was glued to the screen. I then went on to see a video of him playing solo electric in a club to a small bunch of people giving them a guitar lesson and he just seems like a really humble and talented person who wants people to feel like they have learned something useful...The amount of stuff i will now try to do from just those two videos will keep me busy for 30 years!
So i'd like everybody to raise their glass to Paul Gilbert today for being a top class guy

Paul Gilbert is awesome - he's a great player, great teacher, and as much as I can tell a down-to-earth guy.  I find myself agreeing with his views on music, practice, etc. 

Get out of My Yard, Silence Followed By A Deafening Roar and Fuzz Universe are three of my favorite instrumental rock guitar albums.

A friend of mine has been doing his online course for 6 months or so and is always raving about it.  I've checked it out a bit and it seems like a really cool program, just haven't had time.

I love Paul and his playing but his "shredding" after a while gets a bit monotonous to me (it's incredible but it becomes so incredible at times that it just seems normal if that makes any sense)....so to me, the stuff I love about Paul more than anything is when he tones it down a bit and becomes more melodic for stuff like "green tinted 60's mind" and things of that nature.

I dont usually find too many people that think very highly of Mr. Big the band......but I love em and I think Paul's work in that band as both a player and a writer is superior to anything else of his that I have heard.
