Re: Joe In Bournemouth

I enjoyed that funkified and extended version of "Yonder's Wall", with Bernie, too!

Play like you've worked at it, and don't worry about sounding like your influences.  You can't cheat on them, or your practice, anyway.  If you've worked hard at your skill, your audience will know it.

Looking forward to seeing our daughter's reaction to her first Joe show...it's been fascinating over the last 2 or 3 years to see how much Joe magic has crept it's way into her ipod playlists amongst all the typical 18 year old girl stuff! 3 seats, 3rd row back, who cares about the cost and the drive from Plymouth...Joe's the only guy we've driven to shows all over the country to see...bring it on smile

Parental influence and teenage independent venturing...Wow.  I think you may be on to something, there, mandtj!  Perhaps this is the most effective way to clean up the crappy passive / television and other media's featured "presentations"  of "contemporary", "popular" "commercial" (won't count "Indie" because Joe truly qualifies and a university dissertation could dissect any essays of "them") "music business" entertainment offerings held in fairly universal disdain by those exercising (an active) discriminating musical preference algorithm with more personal, internal input than outside(rs).  Simplified, I hypothesize that mutually comfortable and respected parent-child roles can include musical taste as easily as handing down career or trade or hobbies.  I have seen much evidence with people I know here!!!  Good to see it continue and grow.

This is THE Foundation of how we Save the Blues cool

Enjoy mandtj and daughter! big_smile  Hit up the Show Reviews and Setlists later? hmm

Somewhat late, but suffice to say our daughter's facebook status for several days was 'back home from the best concert I've ever been to!'

Superb show all round, looks like it's going to be 3 tickets each tour now, not 2 smile

Re: Joe In Bournemouth

Handed down good and properly. Well done! Sharing a love with your kids and having them dig it is just the best.

Re: Joe In Bournemouth

Sounded like a great show! Really wish I hadn't missed out, but I was on holiday with family. Glad everyone enjoyed the gig, would've been great to see some familiar faces again - as you all know, half of the experience is the show itself, and the other half is being with great company smile
So it looks like Joe won't be back until 2015?? Long time to wait, but it'll be worth it... This year's been busier than ever for Joe, so if it's a well earned break, then he deserves it!

You won't be disappointed and it'll not be your last JB show...enjoy!!

I must say that it was only by talking with my fellow Knopfler fans on our forum (A Mark In Time) that a friend  had found a radio broadcast of Joe talking about MK and how he would like to collaborate with him one day! all I say is bring it on!!

That led me to look into Joe and I'm hooked and so is my wife too!!
and what just happened to be on Sky Arts1 HD yesterday morning - Joe in New York live concert - wow oh wow!!

So how was your first Bonabaptism???

Well what can I say - sorry it's taken a while to reply but I'm here!!

The Bona-baptism has knocked us both for six - Joe IS awesome and to say we are now hooked is an understatement!!!

I have been personally compiling as much audio and Blu-ray as possible to get truly 'in with it' if you know what I mean. I still rate Knopfler as my first choice but because Joe and Mark are so different they aren't if you know what I mean. I love the way joe plays espeically with the odd 'finger picking' and boy does he make the Gibson sing!!
I'm a big Fender Strat fan (Own three MK Strats) and absolutely loved it when I saw Joe play Rory Gallaghers beast on the Tour de force - RAH Blu-ray!

Can't wait for our next concert and believe me we will do like we do with MK and do quite a few on the tour..

Best wishes
