Re: Steepwater Band

They are the headliner at the Blues on the Chippewa festival Saturday Night in Durand Wi. Looking forward to catching them at it. Also they have been booked into Shank Hall again in October.

When I was a child I spoke as a child, But all I heard was how I should get ahead,
Now growing up it ain't anything but all This indecision with these debts and doubts
And worries hanging over my head. When I was a child I spoke as a child,
I wish I could remember what I said.

Re: Steepwater Band

Saw them Saturday night at the Prairie Dog Blues Festival in Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin.  They are really great.  Hope they go far.

Re: Steepwater Band

I saw them earlier this year shortly after Eric was added and it was very good. With the additional shows under their belt it just keep getting better. Saw them Sat, Sun, and Tues, 3 different shows and each one rocked. The one on Sundays was more Bluesy and the one last night was Rock. Quickly becoming one of my favorite bands.

From Saturday kind of dark and Eric is down in the mix

Re: Steepwater Band

Just remember, "You can push and shove, you can say you've had enough, but the World Keeps Moving On!" And so, this Friday night at Shank Hall the Fabulous Steepwater Band will tear down the walls again at one of Joe's old stomping grounds. And if we're all lucky, Jeff Massey on guitar/lead vocals, Eric Saylors on guitar/backing vocals, Tod Michael Bowers on bass/backing vocals and Joseph Winters on drums, will play this one which is one of my favorite compositions of their's.  cool http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PN89ZwwZLJM

Re: Steepwater Band

Last Friday at Historic Shank Hall, I again saw one of the best shows I've ever see in my life! All I can say about it is, you should have all been there. wink And one other thing to contemplate is, "Remember The Taker", starring Jeff Massey, Tod Michael Bowers, Joseph Winters and Eric Saylors, a/k/a The Steepwater Band, which is the first song off off their album called "Clava" and was their opening song this night. Now THIS folks, is how you start a show! smile http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mbn4yq-6NKw

Re: Steepwater Band

OK, one more for today...

I was going to save this new upload until tomorrow, but what the heck, right? wink Each and every time I see these Guys no matter if I load up on a nice Cabernet wine or not, I always feel "High"! And yet I am "Humbled" by the fact that I have had the opportunity to see them a number of times. Hmmm...I wonder if that's why Jeff, Tod, Joseph and Eric, a/k/a The Steepwater Band, called this one, "High And Humble"? wink I hope you enjoy this "BluesMan" Roy Ebert Production video of the Fabulous Steepwater Band! smile http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4lLasutTvl0

Great band, I'd definitely recommend them, although I prefer the sound when they were a quartet.

Dharmakaya is an excellent album.

Keith, They are a quartet again. wink I had them in town last night. When I first heard them in 2007 I thought Jeff's voice was the only thing that would hold them back. He has really found it now. I describe some of the newer stuff as having a John Lennon quality to his voice. Here is a live board recording of a show last September with slide show.

Re: Steepwater Band

The songs included on this live album much proffered by me than the live at the Double Door CD. This represents the current setlist and band well. Wish I was closer but I will be seeing them Saturday in Stillwater about an hour from me.

Re: Steepwater Band

I'll be seeing them open for Coco Montoya at SPACE in Evanston, IL on Oct. 20th.  I've been a fan of Coco's for a looooooong time, but have never managed to catch him live (as a solo act), so that's way overdue.  And I'm looking forward to seeing The Steepwater Band too, after seeing the endorsements, here.

Play like you've worked at it, and don't worry about sounding like your influences.  You can't cheat on them, or your practice, anyway.  If you've worked hard at your skill, your audience will know it.
