Re: The NFL - National Football League

what do you make of the Trent trade, especially coming this early? something smells fishy like Trent wore out his welcome real fast.

hilarious, they couldn't at least tell him up front? apparently nothing is fishy, the Browns just decided to fold tent early this year rather than wait.

interesting comments here on mid-week betting lines, the "sharpies" really like Miami at home.

  • Jdawg- only picking 14?
    St. Louis at Dallas?
    Arizona at New Orleans?
...Before Cleveland announced their trade, I was thinking "not this week, but they will surprise soon"  Still not going to be as lousy as perceived.  But, rolling over is like crying in baseball.  Or at least it should be.  Big shame and stench.  Puts players at risk physically and career wise.  But...business mad

  • Bill, it has been a while since such a wide spread, but I'd venture it might be topped sooner than later this year.

Sorry, I'm not ready with the full list yet, but for tonight - I don't believe in Vick and I don't believe in the new Eagles, at least not yet.

Don't know how close you follow the Browns Tres, but it was already SOS different season after 2 games. The faithful fan base unloaded on the offense after week 1 on local radio according to my cousin who lives there. Word outta Cleveland was that new GM, Mike Lombardi and new CEO Joe Banner weren't crazy about Trent or Weeden, who they had no part in selecting. The trade evolved in just 24hrs. when the Browns realized the desperate need at RB in Indy. When Indy offered a first round pick for a guy that hasn't set the world on fire and is injury prone, it all made sense to the front office. As far as Weeden goes, his days may be numbered as well. He won't play Sun. due to a thumb injury and Cleveland local Brian Hoyer will start instead. The front office is gearing up for a blockbuster draft to get the team on track for the future, only time will tell. My pick of CLV. over MINN. isn't a sentimental choice, as I still have faith in the Browns "D" who played well in both games so far. Less I digress, only time will tell. As far as replacing Trent, the Browns are just waiting on Willis McGahee to clear a physical. What appears to be waving the white flag is possibly the right correction. Could be worse, look at Jacksonville! Remember, NFL stands for Not For Long!

Re: The NFL - National Football League

KC @ PHI - at least that was one right.
HOU @ BAL - could well go the other way, especially if Rice isn't fit.
GB @ CIN - the cheeseheads should be good enough.
STL @ DAL - but a loss wouldn't be a major surprise.
ATL @ MIA - Fins on a roll, I'll stay with them.
CLE @ MIN - Vikings to get off the mark.
BUF @ NYJ - who will suck less on the day? Toss up.
TB @ NE - home banker
ARI @ NO - Saints should take this.
SD @ TEN - taking a chance on Sandy Eggo
DET @ WAS - lose this and the season's a washout.
NYG @ CAR - I'll go with Eli, but a Giants loss would not surprise.
IND @ SF - Niners to bounce back, Colts disappoint.
JAX @ SEA - another home banker.
CHI @ PIT - Bears on the up, Steelers suck.
OAK @ DEN - banker of the round

Re: The NFL - National Football League

It's going to be a long season in Chargerland. There is no bench when the starters get dinged up and the secondary is pitiful, probably the worst in the league. Time to play for draft picks already and give the new coach something to work with next year. sad So many last play game-changers this weekend!

Re: The NFL - National Football League

The Cleveland faithful aren't missing Trent Richardson or Brandon Weeden after what they saw in Minn. yesterday. Trent was his usual mediocre self for Indy with 13 carries for 35 yds., but did score a touchdown from the 1 yd. line. The front office looks pretty sharp this morning, but we'll see how the Browns match up with Cincy this coming week.

I hope your prediction is incorrect Rick.  That final drive should've ended with a Charger interception.  Great win for the Titans, but I think San Diego will bounce back.

I hope you are right Curby, but it is not looking like a possibility. The team is just too thin in vital areas. The O line is much improved and scoring points isn't the issue, though Rivers' tantrums continue and he isprobably nearing the end of his career. At the end of last Sunday's game the D had nothing left as injuries to the starters had left gaps that couldn't be filled to stop the run, or make tackles for that matter. The secondary has zip for talent as that last td showed. They made a second rate QB look like a world beater. The rising star in the AFCW is the Chiefs.

Re: The NFL - National Football League

So far the team that has distanced itself from the pack is the Broncos.  Oakland has a decent team and Manning just shredded them.  Peyton is healthier this year and is playing with a huge chip on his shoulder.  Chiefs and Miami are also impressing me, but it's early.

If the Chiefs make it to the half way point with a strong record, there's a powder-puff lineup to ride to the end. We'll see what they do head to head. Arrowhead is never a fun place to visit.

The Chiefs are benefiting all season long from the NFL's last-place scheduling system, and the fact that the NFC East appears to be having a down cycle. The way the rest of the teams on their remaining schedule have played to this point, it would not surprise me if the odds-makers have them favored in all of their remaining games except for the pair against the Broncos, and possibly the game against the Texans...

It has been awhile since Arrowhead was a house of horrors for visiting opponents. Over the past two seasons, the Chiefs are just 4-12 at home...
