Topic: Full Acoustic & Full Electric sets for Fall US tour!

Just read in the newsletter that Joe is going to do two sets on the fall US tour, one full acoustic with the guys who played in Vienna: Gerry, Mats and Lenny, and one full electric with Tal, Carmine and Derek.  This will be so cool!!

Re: Full Acoustic & Full Electric sets for Fall US tour!

Yup.. just read it in the news letter tongiht:

Bonamassa Opens For Bonamassa

http://jbonamassa.com/features/2013/bon … ore%20Here

His U.S. Tour will feature both a full acoustic and full electric set with two different bands!

Yet again Bonamassa strives to give his fans a show they will never forget!

Internationally renowned guitar superstar Joe Bonamassa will kick off his U.S. Fall Tour on November 2 with a brand new show for his fans that will feature an opening set with his World Music Acoustic performance from the Vienna Opera House from his number 1 Billboard Acoustic CD and DVD.

This U.S tour will offer two entirely new and exciting band line-ups with Bonamassa essentially opening for himself.

The first hour of performance will feature the worldly all-acoustic band that accompanied Bonamassa on his recently released CD/DVD/Blu-ray An Acoustic Evening At

The Vienna Opera House (J&R Adventures).

Playing an assortment of rare, vintage, organic and “oddball” instruments, the performers include Gerry O’Connor, Mats Wester, and Lenny Castro who will run through an hour of Bonamassa’s signature Acoustic performance from the Vienna show, treating the audience to a gorgeously textured “unplugged” experience.

Bonamassa will then shift into electric mode featuring his regular touring band: Carmine Rojas (bass), Tal Bergman (drums), and new touring keyboardist (and fellow Black Country Communion member) Derek Sherinian

For a change you didn't hear it here first. I'm as excited as I have ever been for this tour. It is the full meal deal.

Roll on next Wednesday...!!!!

Re: Full Acoustic & Full Electric sets for Fall US tour!

I'm just thinking out loud here... but..

I would think that having that many musicians on stage is cutting into Joe's profit margin.
Before he only needed to pay himself and 3 others for being onstage with him
(yeah I know there is crew, trucks, office staff, etc but that doesn't really change)

Now he was what? 6 guys he now has to pay per night...
and we know that Joe is a cool dude that he's not going to raise his ticket prices to cover the added expenses

The prices for these shows are the same as they have been for the past year or so. Think it's really cool Joe is adding the acoustic set. Gerry O'Conner is an amazing musician who really brings a lot to the acoustic versions, as well as Lenny and Mats. Nice to see Joe changing things up, wonder what he'll be doing for the electric set because the guitars he showed in a rehearsal picture were quite a different collection from the ones he usually uses on tour. Can't wait for November!

That's so cool!!!

Re: Full Acoustic & Full Electric sets for Fall US tour!

Let the clamoring for a Chicago date recommence.

I recall Joe in an interview somewhere talking about taking the acoustic show on the road, not all that long after it had happened.  Sweet!

Also hoping that the word gets out for attendees, beforehand.  So people aren't wandering in during the acoustic portion, thinking it's an opening act.

Play like you've worked at it, and don't worry about sounding like your influences.  You can't cheat on them, or your practice, anyway.  If you've worked hard at your skill, your audience will know it.

Playing bigger venues and selling more tickets pretty much takes care of that.

That is some exciting news! I am sure the extra band members will add to the cost of the other stuff too Doug.
I'm looking forward to getting to experience this.

anyway I don't have the newsletter handy, is that the whole story right there above? It should be at least an hour on electric right?

I hope that Song of Yesterday gets full consideration......nice replacement for JGP....

45 min opening with intermission for the change over is what I was thinking. 90 min electric including encore? There is no replacement for JGP wink

Re: Full Acoustic & Full Electric sets for Fall US tour!

Ever since I watched the first you tube videos of the acoustic show in Europe I have wanted to see Jerry and Mats! So excited that finally we in America get something extra special

Re: Full Acoustic & Full Electric sets for Fall US tour!

what is different about this? he has been doing this all year with his spring/summer tour, just watch the videos from Las Vegas or The Beacon Theatre 2013, in both cases he opens with an acoustic set and then does his electric set, basically the same way he did the RAH this year.

Las Vegas - 4/20/13

Beacon Theatre - 5/16/13

these are not the only two examples of him doing this, these are just the two best concert videos i have seen of him this year, each performance is amazing, he was really on his game both nights. I especially love John Henry from the 5/16 beacon show, and Yonders Wall from the 4/20 Vegas show.

Thanks for liking my videos! The difference with the fall tour is that he will be joined by Gerry O'Conner on fiddle/banjo/etc, Mats on nickelharper and Lenny on interesting percussion instruments and that it should last for about 45 min to an hour vs 20 minutes.

Re: Full Acoustic & Full Electric sets for Fall US tour!

yeah your videos are great! probably the best in terms of Bona-Bootlegs. i also really enjoy the RCFP vids from the iridium, i was there on the 6/8/13 set 1, i saw the staff keep telling you to stop filming, i didn't realize it was you until i saw the vids up on your youtube channel tho.

oh that is very cool, so its basically the show he did at the RAH 2013, vienna band and then electric band. and in terms of keyboard, harmonium, and general pandemonium will Arlan once again join joe? or will derek take arlans place in the acoustic band as well as electric?

Hmmm, I saw the staff telling a lot of different people to stop, but no one spoke to me. My back was to them and the camera was down in my lap. I don't know if they saw me. It did make me nervous with them telling everyone, but since both Joe and Tal gave me the okay, I kept doing it. Tal even told me that if they gave me trouble, to just tell them I was working for him. Thought that was unbelievably cool of him.
