That's great to hear! I bet there won't be any west coast dates since we're getting a few this winter. But I can hope!
Side note, I just scored my plane ticket for the Oakland show! Can't beat 88 bucks each way.

I'm curious what kind of seating is available when the seats are connected to PBS donations?  Is there a "block" of seats for the PBSers or does one have a choice of any sort as to where his/her seats are?  Do those PBS seats get taken before anyone else has a chance to purchase them?  I ask because I'd like to purchase tickets for seats up close to the stage next time I am buying tickets without having to pay exorbitant resell prices (ebay, Stubhub, etc.)  If PBS people get first crack at the best seats, then that seems the way to go.

They are great seats and usually in a block in center orchestra but it depends on the venue I think.

Hi Caniac.  Love the Miss You Hate You pic of Joe.  Sweet!

I am a proponent of PBS tickets, with some cautions.  They usually block off a section for their fund raisers, but you never have a choice of seats, but supposedly the earlier you pledge, the better
your seat.  It is natural to assume the PBS block includes the best seats in the house, but definitely not always.  For example, in Cleveland for this November, the block only included Rows 6-18.  Then the
station ran another pledge drive several months later and those rows were S-DD...sheesh!  It's normally $250 for 2 tickets, with higher prices for other packages which include CDs/DVDs.

Yes, the PBS offerings usually start a long time before the tickets are opened to general sale.

This time I did better by signing into the venue's website the minute it opened for "fan club pre-sale", with the codes provided by Joe's website and here on the Forum. Got Row 2 towards the aisle with no seats in front of me.  But cautions here as well, since often the scalpers manage to scoop up the first couple rows.  And then, once in a while we hear about people going to the box office the day of the show and getting right in front!  So, you never know how it will go!  Sorry, there's no sure-fire way to score first row that I know of.

The PBS tickets are held back from the general sale and pre-sale. They have an allotment and depending on the scaling of the house they may or may not include the first 4 rows. They are filled at Will Call on the day of show. It is done chronologically to the best of my knowledge. Whether it is in the order that they were purchased or in the order in which they are picked up I'm not sure. That can also depend on the venue and ticket seller. Any unsold PBS tickets are released back into the general sale.

If you want to know exactly where you are going to sit I would buy in the pre sale. If you want the ability to support PBS and are happy with good seats in the lower orchestra then by all means buy through PBS. If PBS is offering a M&G with purchase and you want to assure a M&G then I would go that way too. If the PBS promotion has M&G then there will be limited ST access. Joe holds the number spaces to a strict amount. If your show is part of PBS promotion which most in the Spring will be then I would definitely buy through PBS if you desire a M&G I do not know if that is the way the Spring Tour promotion is going to be handled however so only do so if it is plainly described as including a Meet and Greet.

Markets without PBS promotions will have more tickets released in the pre sale and general sale and more spaces would be available for ST M&G.

Thanks guys. I'm still trying to learn all the ins and outs. I've seen some PBS shows offering Joe tickets with a high enough donation but the last time I saw it, it was a repeat if one I'd seen before.

For those in eastern New England, seeing these posts prompted me to check out local PBS stations and it appears Joe will be playing Providence, RI at the PPAC May 15.  (He played there last year around the same time).  No meet and greet packages on the website.  I'll get a pair - will probably try for at least one on my own eventually, but I never have trouble finding someone to take these if they are not that great.

Another question. Sally mentioned a fan club pre-sale as an option for purchasing tickets. What specifically is this fan club?  Is there an actual sign up somewhere for a fan club?  Maybe a silly question I know but I'm learning!

If you are signed up for the email list and get newsletters you are signed up to the fan club.

but since Andy took over, there is no more of the 'cloak and dagger' type of pre-sale listings.
Andy just posts a sticky note here in the forum and posts it on face book page, all out in the open for all dates
allowing for a free for all to get tickets with the pre-sale code

Thanks for the heads up Rick. I'll keep scanning the PBS channels and I'll post any shows when they show up on the schedule. I have had good luck in the Baltimore/D.C. area with Pledge seats. I tend to buy from the fan pre-sale also, like Sandi, to hedge my bets. I have never had trouble finding a taker for the ones I don't use. Because this is the first time I haven't known when my next Joe show will happen, I take heart at the appearance of shows in New England smile
