I thought it very promising and look forward to more. Evolution is always needed. Doesn't always work though.
OMG - the sounds of my "youth". And I just saw ELP from a 2010 concert on TV.
I'm looking forward to see what they come out with.I'm hoping I will be pleased!
Gotta be worth a listen with Steve Morse on guitar.
Think Purple,

For me Deep Purple ended with the loose of Mr. Blackmore.
Saw them two times with Steve Morse.
It´s o.k. but not the same band.
Album to be called "Now What?"

Its a different sound for sure.I try to look at it as a different band because without Ritchie it is not the same band.DP has had so much shuffling of band mates its hard to keep track lol.If I had to choose it would be the MarkIII line up of Blackmore,LOrd Paice.Gillan,Glover.

I Agree, for me Deep Purple was at it's best with Ritchie... believe me, i tried to give their albums after Ritchie a chance, but i have to admit i didn't like "Rapture of the deep" much, nor "bananas"...
Rapture of the Deep didn't do it for me either.Banannas was ok for me liked a few songs.

Other way round for me - thought Bananas was very patchy.

This is the best album they have made in many a year - all the hallmarks of a classic band. Could well be album of the year for me.
Funny how different people see these things
As a huge Purple fan, I find it difficult to judge this as it isn't really a Purple album.
Lucky for me I streamed it on Napster rather than buying it because after 4 or 5 listens I know that had I bought it, it would have been confined to the back of a cupboard, never again to see the light of day.
Its not that its bad, I just find completely anonymous and lacking in any depth or character.
Morse is a truly amazing technical guitar player, but he is so limited in his playing with Purple. Its difficult to believe its the same guy when I listen to Tumeni Notes or any of the Dregs stuff.
Like the new Sabbath album, I am pretty sure that I hear a lot of electronic support on Gillans vocals. Seen them on the last 2 or 3 tours and he certainly struggled live.
Video for "Vincent Price" :
Video for "Vincent Price" :
I can just imagine them 'storyboarding' the video....
Director says 'hhhmmm, this video is just not working. What shall we do ?'
Assistant says 'Why not throw in a semi-naked, pole dancing Nun who shows her arse a lot'
Director says 'That might just work'
And it Did !!!!
As a Vincent Price fan, I hated it. With what a great actor he was, you just couldn't find the great clips from him. An Icon. You couldn't even use his magnificent voice in the video?
Wow a cross made him disappear? You gonna shoot him with a silver bullet too? Think you got him mixed up with Christopher Lee.
Lame, you still won't beat out Robin Thicke's video. That is what is all about now.
At least with Motley Crue's video the subject matter matched the song.
