On KPBS San Diego once again!
Gotta check if you haven't seen.
Rock ON & Keep the Faith,
A pleasure seeing Joe at Vienna last night in the prime time slot, but when the donations begging came on I about fell off the sofa. They spieled the regular stuff at the usual markups bit when the high roller package was announced for a meet and greet and 2 tickets in the first four rows at a stunning $1200 ? Oh my! The 2 in the front rows deal without the m/g was a paltry $375. Now I know why it is impossible to get great seats down front on the presale any more if they're blocked out for PBS. I guess that is one way to deal with the scalpers.
You had to know all this previously, Rick, unless you were only viewing for the first time. But this was at least the 10th time our market has broadcast it. I agree on the first flush ALARM seeing the "apparent" pricing, but this market, if any, should prove how effective ALL promotion is and provide a scalable, usable bellweather for the general widespread popularity of Joe Bonamassa in his homeland. One thing to bear in mind is the history and demographics of San Diego's KPBS. Some public television history has lineage to San Diego! This is their "push" for diversity and increased membership in their "Producer's Club," which is a minimum $100.00 monthly, or, one-time $1,200.00 donation. Purchasers get more than a meet and greet for the $825.00 difference of $1200 vs. $375. It's a year long extra value added benefit. San Diego has it's share of wealthy expatriates from Europe. A conversation with someone "back home" could possibly lead to "buzz" and buy in???!!! I think at least a little. If not, those seats will open up at lower price. For the record, there aren't many left...
