Beth Hart uses her smoky like vocals to breathe life into songs that didn’t even know they were gasping for air. Tracks made famous by legends are given a new task in life and whilst nothing will ever replace the sound of the likes of Billie Holiday or Tina Turner, Beth Hart pays homage respectively and with a huge amount of vigour."

Every review just ups the anticipation.  Thanks Beth.  You are so on top of Beth I often wonder of you are Beth! smile Or Scott! yikes lol

I have always felt Beth had a connection to Etta James, but I was not aware how intense and fully ingrained it is in her, even though the ears were beyond nominal suspicion.

Can't wait much more...

Thanks - I was thinking all night at her show tonight on who she reminds me of and Etta James is a perfect comparison.  She takes us to church and wrings the audience out.

I wasn't paying attention to how often, consistent, and insistent her references and plaudits toward Etta occurred over time.  Her favorite, all albums, I understand now...

On my way to your review of the show in the other artists section...

Re: Joe and Beth Hart

I've definitely got room in my Bonamania for Beth (and it's clear Joe does, as well).

I've managed to turn quite a few of my friends on to her, and sparked a few purchases of Don't Explain  Not satisfied with that alone, I turn the promotion dial up a tad more, and want to know who else my friends have turned on to such fine music.  I knew I had planted a few deep seeds, when one of those friends checked in to tell me they had already pre-ordered Seesaw.

I'm not going to stand on a soapbox on a street corner, singing Joe and Beth's  praises, but I try to do my bit.  I would like to see them live, as well.  I'll be looking in on the other artists thread, too.

Thanks for sharing.

Play like you've worked at it, and don't worry about sounding like your influences.  You can't cheat on them, or your practice, anyway.  If you've worked hard at your skill, your audience will know it.

Re: Joe and Beth Hart

Per store description, US preorders ship May 14! Should be hitting mailboxes any day now. CG Film does a great job on the webisodes they are the perfect tease to hear more. Can't wait to hear the song at the end of #1. I noticed over the weekend Seesaw was in the top 10 on Itunes blues, and Acoustic Evening & BBBB went back & forth between 1 & 2. Obviously these numbers are always changing but as I am looking at it this moment, Joe & Beth have 4 out of 6 of the top10!

Been busy and my random lurking I haven't gotten a chance to read all the way through larger threads and not sure if this has been posted? If so, apologies, just post the link or point me in the right direction. I'm wondering who is in the band touring with Joe & Beth? Both cds have had the same group of musicians, obviously Anton has a standing gig nearly every day and has only been guest at live shows with Joe as we all know, also would Blondie tour? Since Arlen is on this tour and Carmine is on both albums I am kind of assuming they would be there?  Would be really cool if the horns came along too?

Beth blew me away in Nashville, (will post more about it in solo thread) I knew she would. You lucky Bonabuds getting to see them together very soon.I left her concert with that same daze/haze I leave Joe's shows with, seeing them live together I would be walking around in a daze for days! And sure would love to see US dates so I could! I understand totally the shows there instead of here but it breaks my heart that we have the conversation that Joe & Beth are from the US and recording these cd's in the US and US sales should be more! My wish is the dvd made this summer will be on PBS & Palladia in 2014 that will create a demand for some Joe & Beth shows here in the US.

Re: Joe and Beth Hart

I read that there will be a horn section. And when I saw Tal in Vegas, he said he was not doing those shows, needs to spend time with his kids, so could very well be Anton.

I think Anton would be the natural choice for the Beth Hart shows, tho.

Re: Joe and Beth Hart

Listening to Seesaw now, and it is soooooo goooood! This group of musicians has put together another fantastic album. Just one time through Close to My Fire, Rhymes got the first repeats and Sunday Kind of Love is beautiful. To quote from Joe in the liner notes "And a very special thank you to all my fans for believing in my musical experiments and promoting me in everything I do" and I will say you're welcome and thank you, you really make it easy putting out great music and this one is one to be especially proud of.

That's great news Natasha, the horns really add a lot to the songs on Seesaw. The dvd will be great now I can't wait for it!

I agree Anton would be the natural choice and I hope it would be, he has been with Joe for now mulitple shows in London. In the CG Films webisodes in the for the making of DTTD, Bang Boom Boom Boom, and SeeSaw Anton's interviews you can tell he's really excited and likes working with Joe, we'll have to see?

Re: Joe and Beth Hart

Got my Seesaw pre-order today! Holy #%$&@#%  !!!
Listened to it once so far and am stunned at how good it is. Yeah I'm biased but....this is just stupid good! wink

Love every track. Was extra blown away by Nutbush & Miss Lady. I think those captured Beth's live sound better than anything since Live at Paradiso. (Anton on drums...fantastic!) Joe's playing overall was stellar as expected. Especially loved his solo on I Love You More Than You'll Ever Know. I really love the song Close to My Fire - that was a great choice for the album. Also love the whole French thing on If I Tell You I Love You and Arlan on accordion.

This has the same quality as Don't Explain but overall it's much more high energy, soulful and rockin due to the material chosen. It might even be a more cohesive album than Don't Explain. Somehow the songs, even though diverse, really seem to go together as a collection. I think that it makes an even bigger impact to Strange Fruit after listening to this happy, high energy fun album to get to the end and hear one of the darkest songs ever written. It's eery, dark and gorgeous all at the same time and Beth's vocal on that... wow. Love what Joe did with the guitar on that as well, with the ethereal quality. I think Joe fans and Beth fans will love this... and I think it will win many new fans as well.  wink
