Re: The Pain and Sorrow appreciation thread

Pain and Sorrow was the song that got me hooked on Joe.. I like the Hendrixy/SRV vibe it has, but thank god it's the only one. Besides that song i cannot understand why people kept comparing Joe and SRV, they where, and still are very different from each other.. Even more so today

BINGO!! It's a sore point with Joe too. I love SRV, but Joe doesn't play that style at all, IMHO. smile Pain and Sorrow being played tonight !! Can't wait for a vid smile

I actually wish he would have went more in the direction of Pain and Sorrow.
I remember of how blown away I was and how that song stands out amongst all his songs.

I am not glad that was the only one of it's kind that he will ever do.  I saw so much in that in what he could have gone to.

Love the 2013 version ......  yeah tho unlike the 2003/4 extended versions, i think this compact version is modern and cool, yeah maybe if Joe sneaks it into the set cool again it may morph some atmospheric solo in

As a newer fan of Joe,  this updated version is great.   I have watched the older youtube vidoes and the song but really dig the guitar on this version.  Just me, please do not shoot me for saying this.

Re: The Pain and Sorrow appreciation thread

So Joe, the Baltimore show is in about 2 weeks and I just wanted to put in a special request for this song. In all of North America and perhaps even the world I don't think there is anyone who would more like to hear this than a certain friend of mine who we all know and love and whose name I don't even need to mention wink.  I know that you playing this would so make her night as well as the countless other diehard fans that you have in the Baltimore/Washington area. Oh, and I Know Where I Belong would be great, too. Hey, it doesn't hurt to ask does it? Look at all the people who keep getting Sloe Gin wink

Re: The Pain and Sorrow appreciation thread

I'm trying to get back into running after a few years' hiatus, and recently when Pain & Sorrow came on my ipod during a run, I think I double my pace throughout the song.  GREAT song for running!

Re: The Pain and Sorrow appreciation thread

Just came on my iPod. How cool would it be if Joe from out of nowhere added this song back into the set list? Just played at a couple shows a year? Maybe one day I'll get to see it played live.

Re: The Pain and Sorrow appreciation thread

I see JoeBonamassaTV (YouTube channel) put up a Fan video to Pain and Sorrow today (1/9/15).  Comprised of concept stills / photographs ... a couple of Joe are in there too during the solo.  (Maybe this fan video has been out there?)

A great, great song ... will be digging out SILT tomorrow ...

Edit!! ... just saw a Jane H. link early in this Thread (from '06) to YouTube P&S videos ... and see this one at the top of the list now.  It's a video by Michael ... posted up in Oct '12 ... and see he posted the link in this Thread.

Re: The Pain and Sorrow appreciation thread

I'm pretty sure I've seen the last two live versions of P&S...10/25/05 at Shank Hall and at the a Borderline in 2013. Love this song!

"Bonamassa lays out some fiery wah work on this deep cut from his sophomore album So It's Like That."
