Topic: Eddie Turner

This Saturday I go to an American bluesartist called Eddie Turner and band , he plays in the jazz and bluesclub New Orleans in Rhede (near Bocholt) in Germany.
Price of a ticket: 5 euro, about 7 Us dollars I think, very cheap.

He has a very own sound, I like very much. Plays guitar and sings.
Sinse one year he has his own band, before he was guitarist in other bands.

I saw him on Rockpalast TV a few months ago and now he plays 20 km. from my hometown.
His first CD gets very good critics, see All Music Guide.

All the good blues and jazz artists just love Europe!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!and we love them.

Re: Eddie Turner

Bringing this old topic up as I attended the Friday night show at the Prairie Dog Blues Festival and the entertainment in the beer tent was Eddie Turner. I had a couple of his cd's from recommendations on this forum so I was looking forward to seeing him live. Man I was blown away. What a guitarist and performer. Why he wasn't on the main stage I don't know. Somewhat of a mix of Hendrix meets Jeff Beck. One hell of a nice guy as well. I picked up a couple live sold at concerts only cd's and his latest studio cd "Miracles & Demons" and got them signed.

Not alot else to report from the festival except Guitar Shorty was great and T-Man got on stage to jam with him. The rest of the acts were mid level at best and the headliner Jonathan Tyler and the Northern Lights was dissappointing. But Eddie Turners 3 short sets made the 3 hours each way drive well worth it.

When I was a child I spoke as a child, But all I heard was how I should get ahead,
Now growing up it ain't anything but all This indecision with these debts and doubts
And worries hanging over my head. When I was a child I spoke as a child,
I wish I could remember what I said.

Isn't it great when a hidden gem steps up at festivals Rev? Reminds me of the day Joe stepped on the stage as a support act filler at mid day in Doheney and opened my eyes for the first time.  cool

Re: Eddie Turner

Eddie Turner is great: I love his Rise album. He used to play with Otis Taylor. Strange that he was playing in the beer tent: I connect him rather with other substances.

Re: Eddie Turner

Last Sunday it was time to see Eddie Turner again - first time since 2009.
It was a phantastic concert of Mr Eddie "Devilboy" Turner and the devilboy should tour more often in Germany.
Can't describe Eddie Turner's style. His playing has a very own spin and groove. Can't put my finger on it - maybe it's some kind of reggae deep deep down in his songs. Don't know. Very own style and vibe and groove. Like it.

Here's the review of Joe "Joachim" Brookes of the German Rocktimes.de:

Now I'm very curious to read the review of Andre who was also at the Blues Rhede and even more curious of Andre's interview which was not a pure question and answer session but more a relaxed conversation I was able to listen too.

Amsterhammer this is for you. Eddie Turner's tribute to Michael Burks version of "I smell smoke".

Re: Eddie Turner

Blues Sissi, just finished my review and the relaxed conversation interview (nicely said!) and sent it to Marco van Rooijen from www.bluesmagazine.nl

Don't remember all of the interview but you can add when you read it, or correct me..........

He will publish it soon as possible but is very busy, hope this week.

Indeed a great night it was, very relaxed, cool and great music!
