Here is my view of New York Song from the end of the last night. Could get a view of Renato playing on three different keyboards only by holding the camera up over my head and way to the side. Hard to keep that position for very long. Hope you enjoy.

I wouldn't worry about perfection. Getting everybody and everything into view in such cramped quarters is futile. I had no view of Tal all night, but, he being a drummer.........better to be heard and not seen?! 
And, I kind of like the mystery of what a keyboardist does sometimes. And a player of Renato's caliber...well, amazing is not sufficient to my ears. He wasn't just playing 3 keyboards!!!
"It's hard work playing an orchestra" (Renato Neto, ) ...so many laughs out the combo all night, both nights, such fun...

It is, I have to say, honestly, quite a surprise how well and widespread Rock Candy Funk Party's "We Want Groove" is being excitedly received. Gary, I think there is a sincere interest amongst younger players that could exceed the older crowd, some whom probably never had or ever will be comfy with jazz period, let alone the fusion branch.
Well, this cat Ron De Jesús can sure play also! Great solo here, but somebody else just "has" to play FUNkily along. The trades between Joe and Ron on record and live are quite inspiring. Not sure if I like Ron's solo on this Tele or the one that tRick posted above on the Rory Gallagher Strat better...oh, well, call it a tie.

For me, this probably suits others better. I think this is light funk for me. Like you said it's jazz fusion.
There are a number of bands playing this stuff, this isn't anything really different or that much better. For me, some of the songs don't really grab me. Some of it seems endlessly repetitive without really going anywhere.
It's a great project for those involved and for the fans. Now I get what you are saying. You think younger fans aren't comfy with Jazz fusion. Maybe like you said this will peak their interest.
If you are a fan of jazz you are quite familiar with music going nowhere at times, with or without repetition. As much as I like it varied myself, I find some jazz can at times be the most boring music on the planet. But I guess it comes with the territory. Those indefinite lines around what is perceived as "WOW!" and "Whatever!" But since it is an American institution, said by some to arguably be the only true "original" American music, pass is given for reasons of the "pursuit of happiness." For me, and to each their own.

again, thanks to all for sharing these vids and experiences. i have my copy of the cd now and haven't given it much play yet. honestly its not my favorite style of music or Joe songs but the excellence is obvious. i will enjoy getting more familiar with it and then checking out all these live versions too. which at my pace will take a while. as a (still) beginner player the vids are particularly interesting to me know just for being able to try to visually grasp how they do their magic
I sometimes forget that even in its 70's hay day.Jazz rock fusion was still not mainstreamI was into Herbie Hancock and Al DiMeola while everyone else was going nuts over Peter Framton lol..I think its kind of a cousin to prog.One thing with WWG is that the funkiness makes it more accessable than a lot of fusion.For anyone into this music for the first time,I would check out Return To Forever,Romantic Warrior.One my other favs is The Crusaders,who are not as guitar oriented,but have a great funky jazz sound and are unbelivable players.

"Here is Octopus-E from the first set opener of the second night. It takes Tal a little while to to get his drums in tune. Joe asks curiously, "What do you use, your watch?" Tal responds, with a little laugh, "Yup, Swiss technology" I still don't quite understand how you tune a drum with a watch, but obviously it worked.

Here you go. 23 1/2 minutes of freeform jazz/funk. The band had really warmed up in the second set and were having a ton of fun. It starts out with a band favorite they've played at every gig, Jimmy Smith's Root Down (and get it) with a new take and then slides right into a very extended Ode to Gee jam.
