Well, I'd certainly catch him again: if he matched the dates with my holidays, I'd even drive him.

Don't know if his team can get him any UK Festival dates for this year, but it would certainly be a plan for the future. (Try someone like Solid Entertainments - they arrange several Blues festivals around the UK throughout the year.)

I told to their manager Mike, and the plans are trying this band together for all the European gigs. And for the USA gigs Eric will go on with Rick Prince and Andrew Haley.
What do you think of the bassplayer Barend and The Hammondplayer Rob?

Nice stuff! I really liked the acoustic song.

Didn't get chance to speak with Barend or Rob, but they were great backing for Eric; loved Barend's solo work and Rob and Eric really worked well together.

I know Rob and Barend back other artists playing in Europe, so quality shows.

Just cruisin' around on the yt and found this. Man oh man has this young man got talent. Here he is just noodling around on piano and singing a little blues. There is definitely some classical training in his past.  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WgLJ00Q_ … ture=share

Great clip.  He is extremely talented.  I like the part especially from 2:30 to 3:13.  I think he can have a really beautiful song with that if he can extract that part and work to further develop it.  It doesn't need any embellishments, just a kind of John Legend treatment. I think he could turn it into a really beautiful song with some touching lyrics.  With 4:10 - 4:24 added into the same song. He's got some really beautiful playing.

"Holy Toledo"  -  Bill King   "Just Win Baby" - Al Davis  "The Autumn Wind" - Steve Sabol

I found that quite entrancing myself. The liner notes on Dismantle The Sun mention he played all the instruments in studio. He's a one man band!

Yes I do. (it is really hard to read the printing on the jacket!!!) I will qualify that. Drums, bass and harmonica on several songs were by other musicians. All piano, vocals, guitar and Hammond organ were by Eric.

Re: Eric Steckel "Dismantle The Sun"...

Saw Eric Steckel last night at the Cabin Fever Blues Bash in Hagerstown, MD. First time seeing him and Wow! what a great show and amazing guitarist he is. He has so much energy and enthusiasm on stage and his solos are just killer! He played 4 songs off the "Dismantle the Sun" album.

1. Funk C Funky Do
2. I'll Play The Blues For You
3. Mary Had A Little Lamb
4. Love Me or Leave Me
5. She's Nineteen Years Old
6. Day Drinkin
7. Little Red Rooster
8. Ghetto
9. We're Still Friends
10. Mississippi River
11. Outlaw
12. Little Wing

I filmed everything but "Ghetto". Favorites of the night for me were "We're Still Friends" which starts nice and slow and then builds in intensity and then when you think it's over he still went off on this jam for 4 more minutes. "She's Nineteen Years Old" which featured a great back and forth between Eric and his keyboardist, Robert Sands. It was a perfect situation for filming. Front row seats, perfect lighting and he doesn't move around a whole lot when he plays which makes him easier to capture smile

Re: Eric Steckel "Dismantle The Sun"...

Saw Eric yesterday at the Western Maryland Blues Festival in Hagerstown, MD. Eric put on a great show. His Dad was there taking photos from the side and cheering him on. We had a great time hanging out with Cathy and The General. Eric looked happy to see us all smile Only issue was the bass drum was up too high in the mix and the booming of it made the recordings a little distorted. You could feel the sound waves pulsing at you as we stood at the fence. Pretty intense at times.

Not only was it obviously dominating the mix but it was annoyingly out of time. It was like lead kick drum on Scuttle Buttin/'Mary had a Little Lamb. Maybe the drummers dad was on the FOH. wink This blues Nazi wanted to issue a citation for unnecessary slop. Need a little more pocket and a little less peddle.

The overdone bass drum has been bad on all the acts at this festival. Whoever was running sound didn't know what they were doing. It was bad at both stages that were set up. I had hoped it would be better today, but it was not.
