Re: The NFL - National Football League

Just read that RGIII will have surgery on his LCL and possibly repair any damage to his ACL depending on what his surgeon finds when he looks inside. He had surgery on his ACL in '09 and the tests may be showing the original damage. Regardless the Skins will be without his services next season and he may never be as fast as he once was.

Re: The NFL - National Football League

I read that too JDawg. So sad to see him hurt in his first year. A QB in light pads can't go up against those linebackers at this level and he took hits that were unnecessary. Hoping for the best and a good recovery. Medicine and rehab can do a lot.

Yes risk it, or yes DON'T risk?  I was not supporting risking.  The talk about he was going to get injured came true.  Maybe Griffin figured the "glory" was worth the "gory"?! Guess he never heard of Never Make Your Move Too Soon...the question of ego is irrelevant or totally relevant?

The commentators were saying the doctor had NOT given approval to come back yet, supposedly... Cousins had a win under his belt.  As a coach, I easily could risk a very poor performance by a backup (and the wrath of "what was he thinking? Fire his butt!") over a VERY poor performance from a VERY hobbled starter who might put your franchise back on the losing track for next year (or???) by their loss to injury for even a few games recovering.  I have to say I was surprised by Shanahan.  Can't recall that ever happening prior regarding myself.  The knee is not designed to play steroid fueled (let alone ANY) football.

Truly incredulous at the whole scenario.

My yes meant, yes I would have pulled him at the first sign of any problems...that might have been BEFORE the game, based on what the doctors said. Whatever, it seemed clear to me in the first quarter that he should not have been on the field.

I re-read your post and knew what you meant, Bill.  BEFORE the game!!! Could I be your assistant coach!  I agree.  The first few plays it was obvious.  If he was a 10 year veteran with a track record, the mind would give pause to allow for "toughness"...but alas... Shameathand, or is it Shamahan?  If it was MY team, as owner, I'd be throwing a Mr. Dithers fit with the office door open.

Re: The NFL - National Football League

I had heard it would be only about an 8 to 9 month recovery, that he would be back for next season. Is it now worse than they originally thought, or do they still not know until they get in there and look at it?

Isn't that strange that the Nats would choose to rest Strassburg, but the Redskins couldn't do that because it was just one game. Look, RG wanted to be in there, he knows what the risk is every time he takes the field. How can you predict something like this will happen? Roll the Bones, you gets what you gets.

As you've probably heard by now his surgery was performed this AM in Fla. and both ligaments were repaired. As far as recovery time, it depends on who you listen to. If I were RGIII I'd take as much time as I needed and let the Skins foot the bill. Regarding Strassburg, on the Dan Patrick show yesterday he made a valid point. If the Nats knew he could only go "X" amount of innings why didn't they sit him for the first month or so???

He made a huge splash in his debut, because at practice it became obvious-the Redskins had to strike while the iron was hot!...especially given the historical NFC East contention.  THAT made sense.  Subbing Cousins made sense.  Last Sunday did NOT.

Most injuries are better to play on than a really bad knee problem.

Hi Massa,

Yes, that was a good one too, but this is even better, especially when, at about the 3 minutes mark, Joe comes over and stands right in front of me for a one minute solo. cool http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sBxNsHAejtY

Hey Stu,

Just think, if your Seahawks win this weekend and so do my Packers, we're in it for for the NFC Championship! smile Didn't we bet the last time our teams faced off in the playoffs. Hmmm...how did that one come out? wink OK, I'm putting up a signed copy of Eric Steckel's newest CD called, "Dismantle The Sun". What's your wager if our teams make it?

Roy

Joe is the Best!

Raven's at Bronco's - Playing at altitude in Denver; Manning has owned the Ravens, Bronco's had a week's rest
Packers at 49er's - Almost a pickem game, but slight advantage to San Fran as its a home game and they had a week's rest
Seahawks at Falcons - Pickem game but with a west coast team traveling east for an early game with a team that had a week rest.  I'll take the home team
Texans at Patriots - Patriots in a slaughter

Hate to say it, but you could see this coming from a state away and I predicted it earlier in this thread.  On the bright side maybe he recovers 90% and learns to be a pass first QB.  I'm pulling for him as he's such a special talent.  I'd fire the coach though for allowing him to play injured.  No game is that important for your best player to endanger his health.

Hmmm....I could probably come up with something. I've got a Bloodline CD signed by all the band members but I'll NEVER part with that one, it was a birthday gift from Sista Jane. Let me give it some thought.

I like the Hawk's chances. Over the last 5 games we're 5-0 and Atlanta is 3-2...and we've got the #1 defense in the NFL when it comes to points allowed this year. Part of me would like to see the 49'ers again since it was so much fun absolutely DOMINATING our division rival last month...but we owe you a rematch for that Golden Tate catch/no catch.

Seattle may have finished the regular season 11-5 but were in every game; losing 5 games by a combined total of 24 points and no game by more than 7 points. Most of those losses were early in the season, before they loosened the reigns on - and opened up the playbook for - rookie QB Russell Wilson.

Ugh!  Really have never cared for Saturday playoff games. I'd hate to have to play on Saturday.

Here we go though...almost no "expert" for the Ravens winning today.  That is the sort of thing that can make a singing and talking bird snort like a horse... yikes

Just play.  Games...
