Who were very good, especially the drummer from the super bowl and Pino on bass.  Godd stuff.

Re: Concert for Sandy Relief 12/12/12 8PM EST

i really thought overall this was a great show.....highlights for me were roger waters and paul mccartney and billy joel.......i was also a bit surprised by how good the stones sounded (ive never been a big fan, but thought they did good last night).

Re: Concert for Sandy Relief 12/12/12 8PM EST

I thought it was great that they had so many legendary rock guys. Usually these events have all the pop crap. Could have done without Kanye West (did I spell that right?) Totally don't understand what people get out of the rap stuff.

Re: Concert for Sandy Relief 12/12/12 8PM EST

I was surprised to see so many great old bands on the concert.   My favorite two moments was
1 Mick Jagger said it was the largest gathering of old english rockers
2 Roger Waters doing several of my favorite Pink Floyd songs.  He still has it.

Of course Eric Clapton was great.  I agree could have done with out Kanye West.

Loved The guitars Richie Sambora played as well.

Re: Concert for Sandy Relief 12/12/12 8PM EST

I thought everyone did great performing. Not a Kanye West fan either. Loved seeing Clapton with a trio again. Steve Jordan & Willie Weeks are great musicians. Glad they'll be with him on tour next year.

Re: Concert for Sandy Relief 12/12/12 8PM EST

Kanye West got fast forwarded after about 10 seconds, I just can't listen to that ****. There are advantages and disadvantages to recording and watching the next day - you can skip stuff, but then you also miss stuff at the end because the show has run way over its scheduled time and the tivo turn itself off.

Still, I only missed Macca, and I can live with that. wink

My personal highlight (no surprise at all) was seeing how good The Boss still is, and how wonderful it is to see the full E. St. Band - my first view of them post Danny and Clarence. I particularly loved all the Soprano wise guys answering phones, though Tony looked like he'd had several too many. big_smile

congrats on 5000 posts.  you have had a lot to say about JOE!

Unfortunately, we watched live. Kanye was a good chance for a refill break, but went on waaaay too long. How can that be called music? Loved the rest. The Who was especially cool.

What a line up! I so enjoyed it on tv and I kept thinking what it must have been like being there to see all those same artists performing the classic rocks songs of my youth all in one show. We saw Roger Daltrey open for Eric Clapton in 2010 and his vocals weren't as good as I had hoped in that show. Last night sounded great, tickets to see them in Louisville in February, now I really can't wait!!

AH, congrats from me as well.

Do we need a new "Senior/Executive/Supreme/Presidential" Bonametal category?

Re: Concert for Sandy Relief 12/12/12 8PM EST

I remember The Concert for New York City back in 2001 for 9/11 Robin Hood fund raising (same producers, similar line up of performers / celebs as the 12/12/12 concert) and thinking The Who stole that show.  Here is Won't Get Fooled Again (4th of 4 song set - 10 mins.)

Zak Starkey (Ringo's son) doing a masterful job on the drums (as he still does for The Who).  John Entwistle showing his presence just 8 months before his passing as well.

For the 12/12/12 show...surprised how good Billy Joel's vocals were.

Full 9/11 set of The Who (30 mins)

PS: Not the biggest Who fan but appreciate a great performance of Rock (and Blues.)

Don't get Kayne either, was he wearing a skirt with pants underneath?

Overall, GREAT show!

I was happy when Roger Daltry buttoned his shirt and I thought Sir Paul looked and sounded awesome. tongue
