Topic: Don McLean

..."A long, long time ago....
I can still remember
How that music used to make me smile
And I knew if I had my chance
That I could make those people dance
And, maybe, they'd be happy for a while"....

What a treat last night to hear "American Pie" from the man himself.  Talk about flashback to the past and talk about turning a crowd loose singing, dancing, jumping up and down.....and so much loved that he sang verses and chorus over many times to try and satisfy the "hunger" for this song.  It was like the entire audience (very young to very old) was all up on their feet and I must say we all sounded very good singing it.  I was even singing harmony. It was a very heart -fulfilling experience.

Other treats he sang were:  Vincent (Starry,Starry Night), Castles In the Air, And I Love You So, Crying......plus many more.....        smile

Re: Don McLean

I think this qualifies as "finding out what this life is about, before we die"...Ahhh the ole grey matter is still what she used to be (not what she used to use)... I can still remember hearing this song the end of 1971...on my way to the newly opened Disney World, playing on a juke box way hey earl eye in the mornin'...having grits for the first time in a Georgia diner...does life get any better than An Old Day Yesterday & A New Day Now???
