Sorry you feel that way, Chris.  Taste is definitely an individual thing.  I absolutely love the cd: the songs, production, singing, tasteful and gorgeous guitar work, and the sonic complexity and layering.  It's accessible to the masses without being a lowest-common-denominator effort, and that's no mean feat.  And I think this one can be a gateway album for the masses to get them hooked on Joe and have them check out the rest of his catalog, too.

But stylistically Joe can do it all.  Heck maybe someday we'll get a classical work from him; I know he could do it if he wanted to.  As a musician, he's a Mercedes S Class, not a Corvette.  He can beat you off the line with brute force, but he can do all the rest in style, too.  I just trust him to take us all on a great musical trip where his interests lie.  The sky's the limit IMO.  And we've got a long and wonderful trip to look forward to.

And again I'll say that I absolutely LOVE Sloe Gin.  Thanks to Joe, the band, the Caveman, and everyone else on the team for a great effort!

Re: New Joe album on itunes now!

Hey dude, great comments. I absolutely love this CD too, totally in total.  I don't know my feelings completely about the layering if I were to nit pick. I do mean nit pick, as it is only in a very few places where I think I would've left this out or put that in...And I do that with EVERYTHING by EVERYBODY.  It's a producer /engineering type thinking thing, that's all.  Not a fan or satisfaction thinking thing. I like your perception of being accessible without being a sellout.  Will anything be a "hit"? Doubtful, but a hit these days usually starts with S anyway.  Will some pick up on one song only and check others and be dissatisfied? Probably a bit, but hey, so what? We all probably like only one song / album from someone out there in the massive music market. I think something else might happen. And I think it's going to be pretty cool, similar to your thoughts on this being a "gateway" album (we can hope & pray), with people definitely wanting to check more Joe Bonamassa out.  I reserve my further comments for future usage.

Re: New Joe album on itunes now!

Yeah, I felt some bad today about my post
last night.  Joe is one honest sum' biatch and
I just kind of opened up too.

Bill --  I will give it some more plays, of course.
Like you said, I've done that same thing.  Some
times it comes later.   I appreciate all of what
you guys said in response.

I played Blues Deluxe today back and forth to
work and it really helped make me feel better.
I've never enjoyed the blues more than when
listening to Joe's works.

You da man Joe.  I'm just happy as hell to be
along for the ride !
