Topic: Zappa DID Zappa

WOW!! I am so glad forum friends said to go to this show. The venue is small and I stood front center balconey so I could take it all in. Full gear..Huge drum kit and roto's, Xylophone/gong/every percussion instrument known to mankind. Lady on sax (sometimes 2 at a time!), keyboard, harmonica, vocals. another keyboard horn player, bass and rhythm guitars and Dweezel with Sam White(?) singing..Large screen in back with Frank occ. playing, even times when the band played along. I've told you before I suck at song titles, but Susie Creme Cheese, the Dental Floss song and Illinois Enema Bandit were amongst the offerings. It was orchestrated just as Frank's shows were and left everyone amazed. It was extra emotional as the show started with the Mayor of Baltimore sending a proclaimation making 8/09/07 Frank Zappa Day! Dweezel cried. Then he brought out his toddler daughter who's middle name is Frank..too cute..Anyway, the tour is winding down, so if you can, go see them!!!    Cathy

I'm so glad you went. It was one of the few times I was glad to be up in a balcony. We saw it in a shallow, tall venue, the Tabernacle. I'm not a Zappa fan but was totally overwhelmed at the whole show, the orchestratic (a word?) feel of it, the size of it, the musicianship. It was incredible!

Just helping to spread the word about going to see GOOD bands and GOOD live music as often as possible!!!

Re: Zappa DID Zappa

Cathy, Sounds like a really good show. Loved Frank back in the day. Haven't listened to any for years. Always loved Cosmic Debris and Muffin Man with Captain Beefheart.Truly a musical genious.   Watch out where the huskies go and don't you eat that yellow snow.....

Take care everyone. And if I don't meet you no more in this world
Then ill, I'll meet you in the next one and don't be late, don't be late

Re: Zappa DID Zappa

Hallo Cathy,

I got your email about this Zappa show on my wife's laptop. Her backname is Kreeftenberg. I don't know much about computers but it seams that when she opens  the laptop first the message is on the laptop and not on our familycomputers where all the Forumstuff is on.  She tried to put it on our family computer so I could send you a returnemail with my address, you asked for.
She did that but didn't work out first.
In the end we send you the message and my wife thinks it was o.k. Is it let me know please.
And yes Zappa is great!!

Andre Wittebroek.

Got your answer Cathy. Thanks.

Re: Zappa DID Zappa

FYI the percussionist is Billy Hulting, he was my instuctor at LA Music Academy. They were rehearsing by us back in June but we didn't get to see them. I'm glad it is going so well for them.
