Spider wrote:Frozen bananas were a treat for us as kids! They used to sell them at the county fair. I think that's where we got the idea to make them at home. I remember peppermint ice cream at Howard Johnson's was a favorite of my dad's. Mine too! Another was caramel corn or cheese corn from a tiny little shop in downtown Watertown NY. Now when I'm able to get south to visit my son, my favorite is deep fried peanuts. I skip the boiled ones. Deep fried is where it's at man!
Frozen bananas, hmm, I think we discovered them on a trip to Ensenada, Mexico, where kids and Dad had them and Mom got a booze drink on a watermelon. Finally chilled her out, lol (5 kids on a road trip with a carefree Dad and uptight Mom, in a "foreign" country).
Ahhh yes, the caramel popcorn shop in The Arcade (NOT a game arcade, shopping arcade) in the big (to us country hicks) city of Watertown, New York! An occasional treat for us, as was hamburgers at the Carrolls restaurant. From the very first JRECK sub "shop" (a school bus outside Camp Drum, NY), it was always (still is to this day when visiting home) a no brainer, no good behavior needed family treat! 2 subs, regluar, or ham and cheese! Lookout, I'm getting nostalgic!!!
