Re: 20th Hot August Blues

My complaints..I think Loco Por Juana should have opened and played a shorter set. They could have skipped JT Earle!!For a homely guy he sure did have many songs about ex-girlfriends. Chris Jacobs should have been on before Trombone Shorty. In between acts on the main stage, I would have preferred they play the music from the second stage and give us a chance to speak with each other!!! Most def would NOT pay for a VIP again. A good parking spot isn't worth the money. They promised coffee and tea, neither of which I found. Sad for a non-drinker. But, it was unbelievable comfortable, in the shade, for August in Maryland. If you all come again next year, I'm in! lol    Cathy

oh yeah I also got to see forum friend Chris Morrow smile

I wore the sunglasses that you see in my current avatar. What a great decision. They made alot of people smile and compliment them! I think they gave me a headache later on though.

a couple Warren moments for me....
if you listen to this, http://mulearmy.net/govt-mule-08-18-201 … ville-md/, around 4:40 Warren starts talking to the crowd and getting us to visualize what he's trying to tell us and got some of us ladies in the house to admit that we feel like breaking up somebody's home that evening. well....my goodness gracious i was suprised at the feelings and thoughts i had on that one then Ron Holloway gets it going all greasy.....
still sort of fluttering over that yikes

then, i think its in a youtube somewhere, will have to find it again but at one of the times Warren encouraged us to get loud (sampj4 if you have a picture of him raising him arms and such if you know what I mean.....) and then it got quiet and i got a good loud long whistle in from up the hill and Warren goes "Thank YOU!". I didn't think it was in response to the whistle but my friend did. anyway point is he was extremely thankful to the audience and the fest organizers.

Maybe we can get the Warren Haynes Band soon and of course still holding out hope of a Joe headline at Hot August Blues and I'm gonna try to not go on vacation round then anymore cause I had too much to attend to Sunday, having been away the week before, to hang with the friends who came in.

Jane, I believe that Thank YOU! was definitely for you! I believe he added either "up there" ( pointing to the hill) or "up on the hill" (pointing). I'll have to check on that for you.

hey Cathy I am curious about your other comments. One suggestion I would make is if possible add a lighter beer choice for some folks, although I beleive that the charitable proceeds are part of the deal they had with Magic Hat. Not the biggest deal but without being able to bring in coolers, some did want for a different beer.

anyway the drummer, Matt Apts http://www.mattabts.com/index.shtml  also has another band Planet of the Apts, POA    http://www.planetoftheabts.com/  also featuring Mule bassist Jorgen Carlsonn <3 <3 <3

FWIW I liked the other bands but didn't see the side stage bands. Missed Cris Jacobs band http://crisjacobs.com/ at the fest but enjoyed 2 hours or so at the turtle afterward!  Was hoping some of the Locos Por Juana were going to come and jam with Mule doing I'm a Ram or something http://www.locosporjuana.com/bio.html

of course 2hours of Mule is not enough Mule but still great

Jane, I should've asked if you were staying for the duration (better yet should've figured)!  I had to put the kids to bed lol (apologies to those whom it concerns, pain and exhaustion get to the best of 'em), but could've come on back myself!  Cris Jacobs made a very good impression on so many people at the festival alone.  The band have it going on.  Are all the members local like him???!!!

Usually Red House makes me want to run away (or at least to the restroom).  Not this version.  Thanks for all the marvelous videos Rocket.  Is it ok to share them on facebook?

And, to close the festival out... me laughing at the end is the first of two guys running across the guarded area of the grass in front of the stage runs straight in front of us, to where the ground rose up as a small hill and slid down on his behind! Funny to see in the dark! ...of course

Re: 20th Hot August Blues

Shocking weather any day!!! smile  It was just plain n-i-c-e, some hot moments weather wise, like trying to press harder on the hot button, but a breeze would blow soon after it seemed to be heating up a bit much.

By the time Gov't Mule was playing Mule towards the end of the evening, it was downright lovely.  NO insects bombardments either.  Can't ask for much more!
