I can just picture you - Iphone on to connect the Ipad, under a tree at the back perhaps, saving your energy for some serious head-banging later on, especially if you hook up with Jane! big_smile

Say a big hi to all from me and be sure to give Eva an extra hug.

Jane made it!  Justin Townes Earle an aquired taste ( or not) for some, but great to me. Waitin' on Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue...

Eva has a big sign for Warren Haynes, asking if he wants to jam with Little Warren ( lol ), aka Ben...
Hope so!!! Great, beautiful, highly enjoyable day so...Not So Hot August Blues refers ONLY to the weather's mild and gracious continuing cooperation.

Trombone Shorty was great, FANTASTIC drummer and sax players.

Warren guested on last song...

Now the Mule is kicking and rocking the woods!!!

O.O....

What an incredible night, with Mule pulling a Beatles medley, a cover of Joe Cocker's take on The Letter, Soulshine to close the show...need a warm drink to sooth my torn up throat!

Trombone Shorty brought it back reeeal dirty; scalding rendition of St. James Infirmary! And the JAMS! o.O

Re: 20th Hot August Blues

What a great day! It was even nicer spending the day with good people! Thank you all.

Time for the drive home.

Re: 20th Hot August Blues

Arrived home after a lovely visit with Cathy "deep in the forest" and a great day catching up with my awesome buddies at Hot August Blues.  Beautiful weather for a beautiful day.  I had not seen Mule for a long time and they did an exceptional job with a great set-list.  More later, including a few pictures.

Thanks for the reports and links friends. Looks like it was cooking on both coasts Saturday. Though you may have been back with the great unwashed, you are far from common Jane. wink I'll take that advise on headbanging.

You were witness to the guy, as the festival had concluded, who said it was his #67 show for Gov't Mule.  And when I asked, he ranked it as one of the top 3...

Re: 20th Hot August Blues

Where is everybody???? smile  It's odd to have an empty house. Thanks to Mother Nature for low humidity and tolerable temps this time. I have many complaints about the festival, but Trombone Shorty and Mule set some things right. Warren has a top notch band. The drummer was a monster!
I enjoyed spending time with everybody and eagerly await the next gathering. Big love to all!!!!    Cathy

Re: 20th Hot August Blues

Cathy, you'll hear no complaints from me. While some of the acts weren't what I consider as blues or blues-rock, it was all enjoyable. All the HAB volunteers worked their tails off! I had a fantastic time there again and won't hesitate to come back. I just hope it doesn't fall on the same weekend as the Chenango Blues Fest. Glad everyone has made it home so far. Rocket and Marci are still traveling/visiting.

Re: 20th Hot August Blues

What a great festival!
I'm so glad we were able to come back to that place after 3 years and it was just as wonderful as it was the first time around when Joe and Derek played there. We had (what I considered to be) the perfect festival weather, just a few clouds and sunshine & soulshine all day long.

The music was a highlight from start to finish (even though the singer/songwriter guy seemed a little suicidal to me...) - Trombone Shorty followed up by Mule just made for such a fun and perfect night of music. Ron Halloway showing up for some songs was just the icing on the cake ...
I put up some pictures (that I hope you'll be able to see, because they're on Facebook) of our lovely get-together at the Festival and at Cathy's home in the woods: http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set= … 93fb50e525 ...

Hot August Blues - I would definitely come back anytime. What a festival...
