Yes 'Renegade Creation' is a release by guitarists Robben Ford and Michael Landau, with Timmy Haslip and Gary Novak on bass and drums. I've been lucky enough to get an early release of the album and it is very good. The first couple of tracks by Landau and Ford respectively sound a little like solo efforts however once you get deeper in the album it is a real guitar tour de force. Some might have found Ford's recent output a little mellow, with Landau beside him he rarely is. There's heavy blues rock, jazz fusion and slow blues. The album comes out on 24th April, and I recommend it to fans of both guitarists and those that love fluid electric guitar!
very cool you got a copy man. what i have heard so far rocks.
sorry i only mentioned Ford, i thought i had a sub heading regarding all 4 of the band and the album title but it seems not. just mentioned Robben as he seems to have a good following on here but all4 are great.
Damn, awesome! I didn't know when this would be coming out, I would have pegged it at the end of the year but I guess those guys have been doing work! Can't wait to hear Robben's new material...
Big Ford fan here. I just missed seeing that group here when they were working out the kinks because it was poorly (as usual) advertised. It was just a couple of weeks after Robben's regular group performed. The rest of the guys are primo too. Can't wait.
Rick
Yeah Robben's site needs a serious overhaul, it's like it's set up to work against him. He could be a lot bigger if his people put more into the website, but it's pretty useless at this point...

Yeah, I've whined about it before. He's such a master and I hate it when he sneaks in and a gig is missed. You'd think it would get fixed since it is a well known problem, but maybe he doesn't care.
Robben's a very private and quirky artist, he probably likes it that way. I damn near missed him back in Dec. if I hadn't received an e-mail from Volker Strifler who was sittin' in that night. They were scrambling to sell the remaining tix and this show was in Santa Rosa, Ca., ground zero demographically for Robben & the Ford Brothers Band.

Thanks Rocket, I had heard about Jeff but it was instantly sold out and I refuse to pay scalper fees.
only reason I post this is because I've never heard of Volker Strifler. Robben does have a new one out with Renegade Creation which I must have very soon. But I got an email today from Robben's people saying that Volker would be playing with him on tour in this same Ford Brothers Blues Band. He won't play with Renegade or some of Robben's other solo type dates. So I had to go look him up, and very impressed with his guitar style and even more with his singing. I thought that Matt and Robben sing very well, but Volker has them by a step or two.
this from NAMM, if I was Two Rock would not be too happy with the sound on this thing, not a very good advertisement for the amp.

@#$%#$@%$!!!
Just checked and Robben is a late add in Mammoth Aug 4, and I had to scratch that this year. Dang! He doesn't come down this way often.
Rick
just looked at the Bluesapalooza lineup and I would be pissed as well Rick. That looks to be a great 3 day musicfest. You should see all the people on Robben's site that are upset about the cities he has scheduled. guess I'll never get to see him again.

I'll have to counsel my sons on when to get the wives pregnant so the births don't coincide with gigs! Bloozeapalooza is going to be great this year.
He has one up at Redondo Beach but that is a long drive.
On a bright note.... Robben will be at BB Kings here in NY on th 14th of August and myself and friends will be going. Andy Hess on bass, looking forward to it.
I thought I heard of Volker but I was getting it mixed up with Mars Volta. I wish Robben Ford traveled East more.

I saw the Volker Strifler Band years ago as the warm-up for the Red Hot Chili Peppers. I think the RHCP guitarist at the time John F. was friends with them. It was the worst warm up band I've ever sat through!! That clip sounds good, BUT for that show it was a combo of jam and jazz fusion, one didn't know where one song started and one ended...at some points I thought they were tuning up, but they were playing. I remember listening to a CD my son had and it was good. The band didn't gain many fans that night, but there is no doubt, there is talent there.

Angela, first of all, where was this show? Cali.? if not I doubt it was Volker. Besides, I've never heard of him opening for the Peppers. VSB doesn't travel out of Cali. except when Volker goes back to Europe where he grew up in Heidelberg. Dig a little deeper in yer archives and see if you can remember. I can call him or Don Bassey his former bass player to confirm.
PS, got a msg in to Don. Will let you know.
Did it suck like this? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e7dxq8nG9bE
