To be completely cliche, it's all Joe, but it's all not. They all represent where Joe was at that point in time. Like it says on the back of SRV's El Mocambo video, "As impressive as Stevie's too-brief studio career was, the records represent only freeze-frame stills of songs (and a guitarist) that were continually evolving." That describes Joe. The Joe at the time of ANDY was Joe. The Joe at the time of Had To Cry Today was Joe. The Joe at the time of this new release is Joe. Heck, Joe's probably evolved a bit since recording this new album. I won't discredit Joe's earlier stuff. That was him then, this is him now, but probably won't be who he is in the future.

Well who knows, we haven't heard all of "Sloe Gin" yet! We might all change our minds afterwards and insist on shoving it down everyone's throats (and ears)!

Rock On & pick ax their brain first (read mine for information, not kill) and then pick a winner (Superfectas of all CD /DVD product combined pay HUGE) with Faith,

When I say writing I mean the ablum name and artist

I get alot of cds / dvds from people. Some are written on, some not. I think that as long as it is tastefull and easy on the eyes it's fine.    What ever you decide on be sure to type up the tracks or set list and copy the cover art.

I'd have to agree. If somebody asked me which album IS Joe, it would have to be the one coming out this month. The older albums are not a true representation of Joe anymore - especially SILT. Hell, Walk in My Shadow from ANDY isn't even the same anymore. I would say Blues Deluxe was the turning point. That IS Joe now.

I knwo what you gus are saying and like Deezer and Luke and everyone else said too. I am really looking forward to Sloe Gin and there's no Joe B. disc I can do without but it just kinda broke my heart a touch to hear Ballgame my heavy loving friend say that. Just add the "now" to it and I am OK. But to me SILT is what took hold of me. ANDY and ANDY Live sealed the deal. came at a good time for me but would have been better if i had discovered Joe and SILT at the time of the SILT release. I just can't say it doesn't represent Joe without the word "now" or "at this time"
I believe any of the other releases would have made me fall as well but not the same way. I don't think they would have given me that glimpse of hope of the possibility of the saving of rock and roll - in my rock and roll fantasy world. I doubt I can explain it exactly but its the original motivator for me and I still believe in it. not that I want Joe to do anything besides be true to himself and what feels good for him. and I will spread the joy of the music of Sloe Gin (even if its not mostly upbeat) as far and as wide as I can, I can just testify better with something like SILT, because its my speed and in my understanding more.
The sooner I get Sloe Gin though I guess the sooner i'll have something else to say.

I do think that You and Me is a great disc to buy for you target ballgame, for the reasons you said. Its what i would have picked.
as far as writing on discs (I assume these are the cool to copy live shows..) - if the person is a trader I do not write on them as I trade with folks who don't like that but among friends i have found its better to write on them especially for me because I get all mixed up otherwise. I have loads of unidentified cds. (and stacks of things to send out any day now oh geez)

very well said about SILT kinda feel that way myself, it was the first music I heard of by Joe
