Re: 2024 Major League Baseball season

that was a great job by Zito and I assume one or two relievers. SF is kind of in the same position as Atlanta, chasing the now slumping Doyers. I wish we could get the Nats to go downhill a little, they come in to our place Friday night for three. I'm praying the bats don't go silent against their good pitching. thanks Rockies for the 1/2 game boost!

Still lots of time to catch them boys, a 3 game lead can disappear in a long weekend. Our Pads are stretching out the lead on the Cubbies for the cellar, though two more on the roster hit the DL this week. The O'Malley camp may end up owners here from the latest rumors. The present owner's ex is crying foul after the divorce settlement settled a value for the team, only to have offers increased by $300M after the papers were signed.

Gotta admit that I was very disappointed last night. You expect Strasburg to win. Surprised to still be top of the NL east pile.

Hey Rick...after flopping with the Padres at the end of last year, Anthony Rizzo made his Cubs debut to much fanfare last night...wound up with 2 hits, including the game winning RBI double. He's gonna push us over the top in the fight to avoid the cellar, lololololol.

I saw that this morning Bill, he looks like a goodun. Looking forward to seeing him play when yall come to Turner for four this next Monday. We got us a youngun too, Adrelton Simmons has impressed everybody at short, great range, good instinct, and he will hit most any location including around the ankles ala Clemente (did that last night).

Re: 2024 Major League Baseball season

Caught a little MLB history today, and it happened to the team I love to see this stuff happen to. The Giants completed a 3 game shutout sweep of the Dodgers, which has never happened to them before in a 3 game or more series. It was the 4th shutout series sweep for the Giants. Oh yeah, the Giants pulled into a tie for 1st place with the win.

36 innings without giving up a run by the Giants staff. Last night Madison Bumgarner 1 hit the Reds for a complete game shutout, welcome home Dusty! The pressure is on Matt Cain tonight to try to keep the string going. All I care about is a win, now that SF has taken over 1st place.

Re: 2024 Major League Baseball season

quite remarkable Dawg, is there some kind of record they could break shortly? We had a chance to pick up a game on the Nats, but there was that Kubel guy again with a 2 run double and then the 9th inning homer given up by Kimbrel, first HR he has allowed all year. damn, it would have been a sweep of the Dbacks.
Watch out NL west, a new pitcher for the Dbacks is Trevor Bauer out of UCLA. He only pitched 4 innings last night but was impressive. He does have a tendency to walk a few folks. He warms up for 1 1/2 hours with Yoga, special stretching, etc. I think we got us another Bill Walton type here. Wonder if he likes the Dead? lol

NO!!! One pitch, streak over! 3-0 Reds end of 1st. Not the least bit worried, the shutout streak was already building pressure, which is a distraction. All that matters is winning, as Charlie Sheen would say. BTW, liked his new show last night....WINNING!!!

Re: 2024 Major League Baseball season

damn, I didn't mean to jinx them Dawg but it is better for them that it's over. winning the game is the only thing that matters.

Look, SF fans did a great job stuffing the allstar ballots for their guys. I have no problem with that. Now I'm asking for help on this final ballot for the extra guy to be added. Chipper Jones should be there this being his last year, and KC is the only stadium he has not played in. I agree that Bryce Harper deserves to be there as well, but he has many more years ahead of him. Michael Bourn probably also deserves to be there.

Please won't you give your additional votes to Chipper? He said he didn't want to be added as a charity case, and that's a load of crap because he has earned it year in year out. The power numbers are down this year and he has missed many games, but the average and hustle and leadership have not waivered.

PLEASE, PLEASE vote Chipper to be added to the roster. I understand George that you have to vote for Bryce, but all you others need to help get him in. I'm begging, grovelling, on my knees.
Tres

p.s. SF is well represented also by ATL, congrats to Dan Uggla!!! I love his work ethic and hustle.

The battle for the cellar heats up:
Cubs and Padres both showing a pulse, each 7-3 over their last 10 games.
Colorado & Houston now in the mix.

Definite signs of life. The race heats up Bill. They brought up a bunch of AAA players and some are showing great promise.

Voting had nothing to do with it, he's injured Matt Kemps replacement.

Re: 2024 Major League Baseball season

About the cellar...Its been a depressing season for the Phils! However, my son informs me that in all of MLB history, the Phillies have been the most losing team EVER!! lol So, I've readjusted my attitude and come down from that winning feeling for the last several years to that Forrest Gump state of mind...baseball is like a box of chocolates... lol

About catchers - My favorite catchers are Carlos Ruiz, Brian McCann and Buster Posey. I like Chipper Jones, I'm glad he made the cut!

Re: 2024 Major League Baseball season

yeah, they removed him from the final ballot as soon as Tony selected him to replace Matt. It was really a no brainer, but now we need another center fielder and truth is that Michael Bourn is a lot more deserving than Bryce. As good as we were NOT in this first half, Michael is the Braves MVP. I've been stuffing the ballot box since early this morning.
