Topic: Crossroads - Clapton & Winwood play Bonamassa!

What a phenomenal day yesterday...from walking in and seeing Tab Benoit on the "rear stage" at 10:30AM, to the finale at about 10:30PM.
Long set from maybe 8PM to 10PM with Clapton, Trucks, Jimmy Vaughn and after a bit, they brought out Steve Winwood. They played loads of great stuff, including "Had to Cry Today". Yeah, I know this is a Winwood/Blind Faith original, but I've heard Joe's version of this song so many times it felt like they were doing a Bonamassa cover.

Someday...someday

The radio will play the Blind Faith version and someone will say "Isn't that the one done by Joe Bonamassa?"

I'm just saying.

It was an amazing day indeed. It was great from start to finish, seeing Tab at the Village stage to kick the day off to all the smokin' music all day long. We got there early and got right up front. They were giving an extra wrist band for the front pit area so you could go out and get back there to your original spot. Very well run. I'll go through my pics and post a link if anyone wants to check them out. Bill, or anyone else that is interested, i'm going to put them on disk and can send one along if you like.  I made an attempt to get to the seated area to say hello but the security folks wouldn't let me in that area with a GA ticket. I guess we'll all just have to meet up at a Joe B show !!!!!

Re: Crossroads - Clapton & Winwood play Bonamassa!

Glad y'all had a great time at Crossroads!  I was wishing my husband and I could hike on down there after the Prairie Dog Bluesfest on Fri.  We saw Tab there that night and he was excellent!  A great guy as well.  Talked about his work with helping keep the bayou alive; unfortunately too many people were too loud and drunk to listen at that time of the night.

The Prairie Dog in Prairie du Chien is not as cool as Crossroads, of course, but if you want an extremely laid back fest of great blues in the beautiful Mississippi bluff country for a very reasonable fee, you must check it out some year.  We saw Joe and company there in 2004.  This year it was Tab Benoit as the headliner on Fri and four other excellent bands, which I might promote in the "other artist" section some time.

I guess it's back to real life for now. blah!  Gotta go unpack and junk.

Curiosity is one of the permanent and certain characteristics of a vigorous mind.

Hey Larry, I would be interested in a disk of your pictures.  That was one special day.  Got to meet Cathy, Lee, Rene and Bob the night before at HOB.  Great time all the way around.  Also, got to meet Buddy Guy and Legends the night before!

Yeah, Larry! Count me in too for a disc. I really appreciate the offer. If you want to e-mail me your address, I'll be glad to send a SASE (self addressed stamped envelope), otherwise, I can get my address to you.
Thanks again.

joebeacon,
$6 beers, $4 bottled water, $4 ears of corn, $6 sandwiches, $30 t-shirts, well over $150 spent for the day.
12 hours of kick-a** music....priceless!!!
