Topic: Help out a young aspiring session guitarist?

Hi folks, hopefully im posting this in the right area, and hopefully its ok to post this at all lol.

My names Frazer and im a 20 year old guitarist from Glasgow, Scotland, and am looking for other musicians to have a look at my playing and if they think it is of a good standard, write a few words regarding your thoughts on my ability for me to put on my website which we will be setting up tomorrow.

It's a very strange and contrived request, but ive come across so many great players here that id be glad to have a couple of your names giving your musical insight into what i have to offer as a player. Obviously in return i would leave a link on my site to your site/myspace/soundcloud or page that promotes your music.
I already have a few from people ive worked with but i thought there'd be no harm in asking for some more experienced musicians input on this forum.

Sorry for this odd request/post but i am merely utilizing the small windows of opportunity i have open to me at this time smile

Here is a link to my youtube channel with some short HD videos of me playing some different styles & techniques (ignore the 2 old videos as they are poor quality and from years ago, cringe >.<)

Thanks for indulging me, any questions just ask.

Re: Help out a young aspiring session guitarist?

Well....where to begin?

Welcome to the forum, Frazer. I notice that you've been signed up for three weeks now and have made 33 posts in that time....I only mention this because I can't say that I've really noticed your posts, which leads me to assume that most of your posts were in the Gear section, which is its own separate little world! big_smile

So, I'm guessing that you've already asked some specific stuff of the players/posters there, and I'd also guess that the Gear forum is probably the best place for your to attract serious and informed comments about your playing.

However! Ta-da, cast your eyes upon the sticky at the top of this forum! I suggest that you post your links and requests there too. I also suggest that you have a good look at some of the stuff posted in there, because we've got some fine, versatile, intelligent young players around here! Really!

I'm pretty sure that several of the regular users of that sticky would be more than happy to help you along with opinions and criticisms. Keep this topic as your 'own' topic, and please add subsequent posts about your own music to this topic, rather than opening a new topic.

Enjoy, and I hope that you find what you're looking for. wink

Thanks Amsterhammer, thats extremely helpful.
I shall follow your advice/guidelines and thanks again for taking an interest.

If i were to copy and paste my query that i presented here into those threads/sections you mention, would that be ok? or would it be spamming? i wouldnt want to irritate people when im still new here haha
