Re: New Walter Trout album 'Hardcore'

I picked up a copy at Walter's Surf Ballroom show. If you like Walter, you gotta get this CD. Some stuff I've heard live, but not on record like Buddy Holly's "Not Fade Away", a Cream-like version of "Sittin' On Top Of The World", and "Tribute To Muddy Waters" which I think is essentially "Catfish Blues". Great stuff!

Re: New Walter Trout album 'Hardcore'

Cool story about the CD cover. It's a photo of the custom tile floor Walter put in his new home. It's modeled after his trusty old Strat which I think he retired for safekeeping after 30+ years on the road.

thanks for the info i signed up for the alert when its available           Paul

Keith,

Thanks for the post. In 8 days my wife and I will be seeing Walter "Mr. Strat" Trout up close and personal at Shank Hall. I've never seen him live and we'll be there with Jaci (forum friend) and her husband at the show....really looking forward to it! I'm sure you and Lee already have his "Full Circle" CD which has many other artists on it including Joe. I bought that as soon as it came out and it's also very good. He retired his old Strat? Darn, I was hoping to see it. One other thing, a friend gave me a copy of his DVD when he performed with his band at the Paradiso. I'd highly recommend that if you don't have it. I'll try to remember to post a report on the show.

Roy

Mornin Roy, saw Walter for the first time in Memphis, that cat puts on a GREAT show! As far as his strat, dont know if it was the same one, but this one was beat to hell, would give #1 a run for the money.

Yes, Roy we're down to a week and counting!  I can't imaging Walter playing any other
guitar - should be interesting.

Excellent CD, with lots of what Walter does best...play guitar. Very strong disc, and highly recommended.

Re: New Walter Trout album 'Hardcore'

Going to see Walter in Chicago Friday with forum friends. Have seen him before. He is my kind of player. Turn it up and have at it!! I have a question. When an artist is with a label (Ruf) how is it they can put out a non-label CD. I'm not against it, I just don't know how that works...Thanks, Cathy

Hey Jaci and Roy,
Were heading down to Milwaukee today on our way to Chicago for Crossroads. Going to see Walter at Shank. Hopefully we'll see you guys there! I'll probably be wearing a Walter Trout "Full Circle" t-shirt and my girlfriend Renee will probably be wearing a Walter Trout t-shirt as well.

Re: New Walter Trout album 'Hardcore'

Lee/Renee - we can't miss you - it's not that big of a place - Roy and I plan to wear
red shoes so you will recognize us.  See you there!

Re: New Walter Trout album 'Hardcore'

Saw Walter and the Radicals Friday night at the HOB. Got the CD and let me tell you, it's one of those where every song reflects on what you hear at his shows. I love live CD's! This is a must have!!! And if you haven't seen this band live, find a show and go..WOW! Bob (tarus52) gave Walter pictures (including one of his wife) from a previous festival and took a bunch of new pictures. Hope he is able to share them with everyone...........Roy, I have light-up clear stripper shoes if you want to borrow them..(got a pole too..don't ask...)Cathy

Cathy, school's out so you might be in for the treat we got last summer when I caught Walter in Mill Valley. He had an opening act, the fabuluos Trout Bros. Walter's three sons came out and played Smoke On The Water and an original his 12 yr. old, the guitar player, wrote as a protest to the Iraq war. It was a hoot. Mom stood at the side of the stage beaming with pride. Shortly after their set the youngest, I think he was 5 or 6, was zonked out on mom's shoulder while dad was knockin' us dead.

Love his guitar playing; hate his guitar tone.
