Re: My Next Concert (s)

I've been to 2 shows so far in 2012. I saw The Black Keys a couple of weeks ago. I think the BK are one of the most talented newer bands out there today, there are FANTASTIC, loving everything about their sound and style!!

I saw Dave Mason this past Saturday night. It was an acoustic tour and he played with another guitarist on acoustic. It was a great show, but I prefer Dave with his band and I would of preferred Dave on a 6 string acoustic as opposed to his 12 string for most of the show. In that setting, the 12 string sounded not as pleasing to the ears...tinny... too high pitched...hard to describe...

The warm-up act was Al Stewart also on acoustic.  He played the same Taylor guitar for all his songs and tuned it as needed, especially towards the end to drop D. Al was absolutely fantastic!! If you shut your eyes, both Al & Dave still have it, age has done nothing to their voices or guitar skills.  Coincidentally, both artists told stories about the writer Leonard Cohen. Al Stewart ran into Cohen right after his second album was released in an Montreal airport. Al approached him, asked him what he thought about some lyrics he had written and Cohen complimented him.

Also seeing Gina Sicilia in April, Steve Winwood in May and Bonnie Raitt in June.

Considering seeing the Black Keys again in May and James Taylor in July and Renassaince in October.

Re: My Next Concert (s)

I'm glad I got to see The Black Keys back on March 10th for $55.00. I was going to see them again on May 19th at the new Revel Casino in Atlantic City but the tickets were $175.00!! I'm sure the price has more to do with the high end casino than The Black Keys. I did buy 2 tickets at $75.00 each for one of my son's May birthday present, general admission-standing.

One good thing...for the grand opening of the Revel, The Black Keys are christening this new venue before Beyonce's date over Memorial Day Weekend. wink

Unfortunately this gig has been rescheduled for next Friday, 13th April, when I can't make it sad

But Lewis Hamilton and the Boogie Brothers are playing in Montrose on Sat night, so I might have a wee trip down to see them.

Re: My Next Concert (s)

So far this year I have seen Nelson playing an acoustic tribute to Ricky (this was at the side bar of the casino, the wife wanted to gamble for her birthday), Styx (they played after a hockey game), Peter Frampton (a simply fabulous show), Pat Travers (fantastic show, he does not get enough attention or credit) and Sean Chambers (great guitar slinger).

Nothing for the rest of the month but in May have tickets for 2 shows- Wishbone Ash, Slash.
Also have Steepwater Band coming up at the end of May for what I believe is their first show at Shank Hall.

I wish I could remember what I said.
