Topic: Nottingham Arena 2nd April

After so much anticipation from last years cancelled gig really disappointed about this show.  Joe has such a fabulous voice, but it was drowned out totally for most numbers. Volume maybe over loud, but balance certainly out for this venue. On the positive side his playing was awesome - especially acoustic "Woke up Dreaming". Come on sound engineers use yer ears!

Hi Brack, Yeh, sorry about that - rushing as usual. The album I have it on is Blues Deluxe, but of course it 's much shorter & thinner.
The version he played at Nottingham was excellent. Did you go to that gig - what's your feelings about sound balance at gigs?

Sadly no, not this time round. I've always found the sound to be perfect.
Maybe Nottingham was something to do with the extra large arena.
It was his first time there.

They only used aroud half the arena - The stage was built across the halfway point and curtains put across the whole width.  This obviously has an effect on the acoustics of the venue.  Having said that, I have seen a few shows there and cant remember any previous issues of this kind.  Soundchecks are notoriously difficult to do, because in addition to anything else, putting 3500 people into a room alters the acoustics as well.

I tend to buy most 'big gig' tickets off fan sites, E-bay or other sites to make sure I get good seats and I dont mind paying for them. So if I'm paying £100+ for a ticket in a good position, its particulay annoying when the sound is bad - Luckily it doesnt happen too often.
