Topic: Essen show in the Grugahalle

Now off to Essen to the  from the Rockpalast TVshows world famous Grugahalle. Must be an honour for Joe to play on the same stage as Rory Gallagher, ZZ Top, Johnny Winter, Little Feat and so many more performed in the past.
It still is the same building and tonight there are 3500 people and again sold  as Corinna Plagemann from the Grugahalle told me .
Will be e terrific night again for sure.
Let you know how it was and I have a little hope for Beth Hart too..........she is not far away....

For me it was the first Joe Bonamassa concert.
It was and it still is one of the greatest musical experience for me. A very great concert. One of my top five.

I always loved guitar solos, but I never thought that somebody could make such things with a guitar. For me the solo with the accoustic guitar und the duel with the drummer were the best parts of a brilliant and fascinating evening.

Hope you come back to germany very quick Joe .. very very quick.

What a night!
When Blues Sissy and I saw the Grugahalle inside, we were quiet disappointed. A sports arena, with simple chairs in rows, curtains to hide the rest of the immense hall. Mwah, I've seen Joe in more classy circumstances. This more looked like a venue for a standing gig.
But then.. the lights went down, the show began. What a PERFECT sound!!! Compliments to the crew! And off course what a show!!! I really have to say this was one of the best audiences I've seen/heard also. Listening intensely and making a LOT of noice with the applauses. Several standing ovations during the show. Which also was the case after Sloe Gin. And there Joe stood, grinning, just enjoying the ovation, we thought... untill he turned around and took something from the back. This was the Golden RAH DVD! Complete awesome and well deserved!!!
Off course the evening went by too fast and with the encore within NO TIME the space in front of the stage was completely filled with ppl from the seats more in the back. So instead of being in row 4 we turned out to be in row 9, hahaha! A lot of us didn't leave right away, we had to be sent out of the hall (talking to the rest of the fans/friends was so much fun too). Then we had a drink in the voyer and had to be sent out too, haaha.
This might be my only Joe gig this year, but it's one to remember!
