Re: Remembering Brad Delp

So sad - remember Boston at  Newcastle City Hall. Most anticipated gig ever, So excited. But so disappointed - so sterile. So perfect.  No difference from the albums. I can remember screaming - turn it up. That said - what a voice. So tragic. Off to play my live Bostom - at full volume. Thanks for the reminder  .........................

Re: Remembering Brad Delp

I never saw Boston live. But what great studio work.Thar first album is like a soundrack of my life during that time.I was in high school/college  and their music was everywhere all the time.Did get a bit overexposed though.

Your rock candy baby
Your hard sweet and sticky

Re: Remembering Brad Delp

Boston at Madison Square Garden was the first concert I ever went to.  I was 17 and Took my 13 year old brother.  We hopped on the train into the city and it's one of my fondest memories.  Almost 40 years ago.  What a voice Brad had.  Simply amazing.

RIP brad.

If you look up to the heavens just before the start of every Joe Bonamasaa concert you can see Stevie, Jimi, Muddy, Gary and others leaning over God’s railing jockeying for the best view.
And if you listen, you can hear Stevie say  “ SHHhhhh,  The kids about to start playing.”

Re: Remembering Brad Delp

Sorry I'm late to the wake, but know that I've lit my virtual candle and set it alongside all of yours.

Boston was my favorite group growing up, despite the reports of the obnoxiousness of one Tom Scholz. Brad, on the other hand, was by all accounts a sweet, sensitive, friendly guy. My all-time favorite song is "Peace of Mind."

I never had the opportunity to see Boston back in the days when they sold out stadiums. First time I ever saw Brad was in the early 90s when he was fronting RTZ, a band he formed with Barry Goudreau, the guitarist on Boston's first two albums. Great show. It was in a bar in Harrisburg, we were right up front. I liked the album so I wasn't disappointed that they were playing nothing but their songs, but when they came out for the encore it was all Boston and they tore the roof off.

Next time I saw Brad was in Merriweather Post Pavilion in Columbia, Maryland a few years later, this time with Boston. It was a gift from my wife; I'd never thought I'd see them live so it was quite a treat.

The last time I saw Boston was in 2003. Earlier that day I had been at my father's funeral in Arlington. I got a late start, arrived after the concert had already started, but I was just in time for "Peace of Mind." With Brad's vocals, it was like a religious experience.

Thanks Brad, for everything!

Re: Remembering Brad Delp

One of the most recognizable voices in rock. I talked with him for a while after a RTZ show in '92 or '93. Nice guy.
